30 JIM "Dirty 30" YOUNG
1967 - 1979
197 games
Elected into the CFL Hall of Fame on June
30, 1979.
The legendary "Dirty 30" still
possesses many of the team's career receiving records. He came to the
Lions in 1967 from the Minnesota Vikings of the NFL in a trade for Joe
Kapp. He went on to win the award for
Most Outstanding Canadian twice 1970 and 1972 and was a Western
Conference and All Canadian All-Star in 1968
and 1972. He gained a reputation for his hard nosed play,
hence the nickname and forced defensive backs to watch out for him. His
finest year was 1972 when he pulled
in 63 passes for 1,362 yards and 11 touchdowns. Jim was as active off
the field as on and has been involved
in a variety of areas including media work. He served as Vice President
of Business Operations for the team
in 1991. Elected into the CFL Hall of Fame in 1991.
