I'll grant you, I am not a fan of our scheme. Way too pedestrian. Far too conservative. Thank God for all the outlet passes to Roberson. But Lulay executed well within the system. If you're arguing - like I think you are - that Printers would have done a better job last night than Lulay, who can tell? But my own feeling is that with Printers's turnover issues lately, Lulay was the better choice (based on last night's performance), even if Printers was on the bench.

Also, hard to put a lot of points on the board when Edmonton controlled the clock. Time of possession was tilted far in the Eskimos' favour, especially in the 3rd quarter.

Huh?? We needed points earlier than with 3 minutes left in the game if we wanted to win. I'm sorry, but for 57 minutes of a football game, putting up a mere 15 points against the worst defense in the league is downright pathetic.

I'm not a fan of our scheme either, but that's the same scheme Casey Printers had to play with. Except when we had Printers in he often didn't have the luxury of those outlet passes to Robertson on most downs.

I'm not saying Printers would have done a better job. There's no point in arguing that because we'll never have the answer. What I'm arguing is that Lulay did NOT put in the best QB performance by a Lion this season, last night. Lulay did NOT prove that he's a better choice than Printers either. All Lulay did prove is that he continues to struggle to put up points over a long period of time, and that Casey Printers was not the reason our team has been losing games either. Yes Lulay put up points in the final 3 minutes of the game when he went into a hurry up offense and basically called his own plays, but Casey played very very well in the hurry up as well.

I'll give you that Printers seemed to have a short stint of turnover problems, but you do realize that Lulay has turned the ball over more than Printers this season, in less playing time as well, do you?

Sorry to butt in, but I do have to challenge you on the highlighted comment, Pauser. If I remember correctly...actually I have evidence on my PVR...where Casey DID have the luxury of one of those outlet passes to Robertson on that last play of the game in WINN but didn't commit to it. Robertson AND Black were his 1st and 2nd reads, so I was informed, and they were WIDE OPEN but for some reason Casey overlooked them and threw the ball towards the side line to Wilson for that unfortunate INT. (Apparently, according to my resources, Casey did this a lot where he would overlook his 1st and 2nd reads and just throw it to whoever he thought was open.)

Hey, I'm just sayin...I gotta go with David on this one as far as agreeing with him that Lulay executed well within the system and managed the game as well as he could have with the time he had to work with in the second half of the game. It's hard to put up points on a consistent basis when the other team was eating up the time clock with their running game and our defense was having a difficult time stopping them. Oh, ya, and I still think the brutal calls and missed calls by the refs contributed to our loss. (The unnecessary roughness call on Banks, the PI on Phillips and the dead ball call on Black. I could go on but what's the point?) This game is over and at the end of the day the overall performance of the team was just not good enough to win. We just have to look forward to Friday's game against Calgary and hope for the best. Hopefully the players will show up in full force and pull out a win this time.

The time the Esks eating up time on the clock is irrelevant to the Lions O and Lulay's ability to garner ToP. Lulay laid an egg or the offence did, depending upon your perspective allowing the Esks to do their thing more than they should have been able to do. The Lions stunk right down to the pivot on O and D last game in the second half until the Esks went into prevent O and prevent D. Once the OT came into play, the Lions showed that the Esks still had enough to overcome the comeback once they turned it on again. How often does that happen in pro sports? Generally the team that comes back from a deficit to put the game into OT, win as they have the momentum. Lions just showed that they never had much from halftime onwards.

Okay so you mentioned ONE play. What about the hundreds of other plays since the beginning of the season?

First possession of 2nd half: Punt (1 minute 10 seconds)
Second possession of 2nd half: Punt (1 minute 57 seconds)
Third possession of 2nd half: Safety (1 minute 5 seconds)
Fourth possession of 2nd half: Punt (2 minutes 18 seconds)

See the problem with our offense? It wasn't until our 5th possession in the second half where we managed to put up some points (in that half). We weren't able to sustain much in terms of time of possession and our offense sputtered despite Lulay's completion percentage.

Hey, Pauser, read my edited version of my earlier post to you. Just added a few things that you might want to comment on. I didn't realize posts are readable before the final editing stage. OOPS, my bad.

So many here were so down on CP, but at the end of the day, who showed more class? CP, or the Reid? From comments made by both, CP is most definitely the classier guy...by far.

I saw the "tantrum" of CP after the game, and to be honest, from what they showed, Casey's worst thing on camera was when he threw his helmet to the turf, and be honest here, who wouldn't get so angry and frustrated after a collapse like that, that they might lose it for a moment (though that doesn't excuse it, CP needs to learn to control his emotions). The supposed locker-room stuff we can ignore, because none of us were actually there, and we only heard a little of it from Reid, who has now shown himself to be a classless a$$. Wilson, who bore the brunt of the on-camera yelling, backed CP to the hilt, which shows that he too is a classy guy.
To each his own....

Of course Casey is going to be very careful of what he says in his interviews, especially after his, "classless" behaviour and comments in Winnipeg. So to compare him to Angus Reid's comments after the situation and say that he showed more class is hilarious.

I found Angus Reid's interview and comments to be very profound and, to some, uncomfortably honest. Yes, he may have sounded like he was throwing a team mate under the bus but in actuality he had every right to say what he had to say. (If you recall, the players in this interview were asked for some insight, to give the public some explanations for Casey's departure and how they felt.) Casey was cut that morning and no longer a team mate when that interview was taken. Until then, Angus, and no other player for that matter, had ever been public about their thoughts on Casey and his cancer-like persona, as Angus so eloquently put it, during this 2010 season. So, to me, Angus has been and continues to be a classy guy because of his silence before the cutting of Printers. Just because he was bold enough to inform the public about the negative impact Casey had on the team, I don't think it's fair to call him a classless a$$. Having a bad case of "verbal diarrhea" may be...but not a classless a$$.

Well, he's sipping his coffee through a straw in the players locker room, so he can keep his teeth white. Guess he's planning to continue to do a lot of interviews, as he did yesterday.

Actually Angus Reid was interviewed about Casey Printers the day before he got released. On that occasion, Reid indicated that he thought something was bothering Casey Printers and he didn't know if it was his leg injury or whether it was something in Printers life off-field but he felt that Casey Printers was not relaxed, that he was anxious, etc.

My view of the world...Code or no Code...you don't kick a guy when he's down and kicking a guy when he's just lost his job and perhaps his career ...calls for a number of adjectives and none of them are positive ones.

This whole "violated the code " thing reminds of how when a high school kid does some thing pretty bad and none of his peers will turn him because it is not cool to rat out the bad apple .
It seems the Printers supporters take issue with it because it makes Printers look not quite so good as some would like to think he is .
Bouno did say he one of two choices to take on the matter and one was not an option . I wonder what the non-option was ? Did he mean it was get rid of Printers or a whole bunch of other guys on the team , which he couldn't do ? I get the feeling that is exactly what he meant , and he did say he had no choice anymore at that point .
Any way lots of sour -grapes on board here , seems to come through pretty clear from some when they choose to blame the O for the loss when the Esks ran for close to 350 yards on us . Oh no , time of possession was not a factor with all that running they were doing . But blame it on Lulay just because Printers got canned . Sounds real classy .

Casey Printers Statement (following his release)

It was with surprise and disappointment that I received the news of my release. I remained confident that we had an outstanding opportunity to challenge for the Grey Cup down the stretch and into the playoffs.

That being said, I respect the Lions' decision and wish to thank the organization for the opportunity, my teammates for their effort and sacrifice, and especially the great BC fans for their support this season and throughout my time in Vancouver.

We encountered great adversity this year. I regret that I will be unable to help my team during the season's most critical period. I look forward to my next challenge and will continue to strive to become a better player and teammate, just as I always have.

The funny thing is, your own post kind of proves my point. The very system that hampered Lulay from putting up more points was hampering Printers all year. Lulay's skillset is a better fit for the Chapdelaine offense, but that doesn't mean Lulay is more talented or a better quarterback than Printers at this stage of the game either.

I judge a quarterback based on two main criteria. 1) His ability to put up points, and 2) His efficiency. Lulay was efficient, but wasn't able to put up points against the leagues worst defense. Casey, for the most part, has been able to put up points in most of his starts. Lulay, in his last 3 starts has gone full halfs without putting up many points. That's just not going to get it done. He has potential, and with a better OC I do believe he will enjoy better results, but I also think it would be fair to say that Casey would have enjoyed more success if we had a better OC too.

Huh...really? The funnier thing is my post wasn't supposed to prove your point. LOL! Anyhoo, at least we both agree Lulay was efficient and that he has potential. Other than that, we will continue to agree to disagree on our thoughts about Casey.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on Casey, although I have still yet to read an opinion on Casey that basically uses the same criteria to judge him and Lulay. Well...actually I have and that came from Blitz and it ended up suggesting that Casey was our best QB for the season. But I guess for people who don't wish to admit that it can be hard to do ;)

Sounds like his life coach did a great job with writing his statement out for him. Nice work! And, by the way, you gotta love the last sentence. You've always been striving to become a better player and teammate, really? How many more teams does this guy have to poison with his negative energy in order to realize that he obviously isn't striving hard enough!?! My gawd, Casey, hang up the cleats and move on to flippin burgers already!

Okay, the last sentence is way out of line. He's already gone. He wanted to win here in BC, it didn't work out, but at least show the man some respect. :wag:
