Depends upon who you hear the word from, he thinks he is good to go, the coaching staff don't think he is. His knee is/was swollen, pretty common after trying it out for the first time, just if it is still a problem this long after his test game, I doubt he returns to play for the Riders.TheLionKing wrote:Why ? If they had to have a second player meeting, it can only mean that the first player meeting didn't work - or it wore off or something. Which kind of tells you that player meetings must not work in the first place.Blitz wrote:Our Leos had a players only meeting on Tuesday....the second one of the season...
But here's hoping it works!

Perhaps they should have a defensive player meeting only.

He's not 100% - let's be honest - this year, if you took the "88" and the name "Dominguez" off the jersey and sent the player out there, he looked pretty ordinary. Don't get me wrong, I love Matt, but three surgeries in three years are taking their toll.TheLionKing wrote:Why ? Bowman is 100% healthy, just coming off the 9-game, but has suffered the dropsies a bit this year - vs. a Matt Dominguez that is coming off what was thought to be a season or career ending injury so Miller decided to go with Bowman. He has shown flashes of Dominguez-like ability.

I think matt should have made the wise choice and hung them up. An extra few games is not worth the rest of your life on one leg.

Easy for you to say. He is potentially 3 wins away from doing one of the hardest things in sports, winning back to back championships. Not that they will though!
If the lions come in focused, and don't make dumb mistakes like Smart's fumble last week they should win this game. Logan's game last week may set up some great play action opportunities, sucking in the linebackers and leaving the middle wide open. I think the use of Logan (either with the ball or faking to him) will be a major key to the game.

He didn't play in the GC game - not on the 46 man for the GC game = no name on the cup.

From Wikipedia:
Each Grey Cup winning team has the year and team name listed first. This is followed by the President, General Manager and Head Coach. Every player from winning team, who was dressed in the Grey Cup Final, is listed last in alphabetical order. Any player who was not dressed in the Grey Cup game, has been omitted from being listed on the Grey Cup. This includes any player who missed the Grey Cup Final due to injuries. Some injured players were All-Stars that season or nominated or won Individual Awards. However, there has been no deviation from the rule. All other non-playing members are also left off the Grey Cup. Winning teams still award Grey Cup rings to all winning members even if their name does appear on the Grey Cup.

IMO, thats the way it should be. None of this partial regular season or single playoff game played to get ur name on the trophy, that lessens its appeal IMOVern Halen wrote:He didn't play in the GC game - not on the 46 man for the GC game = no name on the cup.

Hey Blitz....................BUSTED!!!!!!
Re: Getting Ready For The Riders
In the past I've questioned Blitz' shadowy unnamed sources. JJ's comment above is the type of thing that, in my mind at least, confirms a healthy dose of skepticism is required when reading any "inside info", especially on a fan site.Jason Jiménez wrote:We did? Please understand that I'm not questioning Blitz himself or his contributions, but when something is stated as fact, back it up, OR be happily prepared to face scrutiny.

Great to read Jason Clermont's column today and that he believes in the "Yes we can" motto! Jason wrote in his column:Blitz wrote:Yes, we can! Obama won the U.S. Presidency tonight with a belief that an underdog can win. Our Leos can still win the Grey Cup this season, even though we go into the playoffs as underdogs, even though we will have to win on the road, and even though the road will not be easy.
Win in Regina.....yes we can!!!!!!!!!!!!
B.C. Lions adopt 'yes we can' attitude

Proving to critics that you can do something that many believe you can't is an outstanding accomplishment.
"To be able to echo that statement, "Yes, we can!," with conviction is a goal set by athletes, politicians, businessmen and anyone who sets a course and meets obstacles along the way. Our week has been filled with optimism and purpose as we embrace the course we have set for ourselves and look ahead to the obstacles before us. We hit the field for practice Wednesday wearing a mishmash of different practice jerseys, emphasizing that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts." (Jason Clermont)
As for the players only meeting lion 16 and lion guy...you're correct...one should be cautious at taking anything at face value (or Lionbackers post value

As for our defense I'm feeling confident we'll play a good game in Regina. We led in sacks, in interceptions and in fewest first downs allowed this season. Our problem on defense this year is that we gave up more big plays than llast year (We gave up 85 plays in which our defense either gave up a pass play of over 25 yards or a running play of over 15 yards. Our big problem was when we went up against the three elite quarterbacks of the league...Anthony Cavillo, Ricky Ray, and Henry Burris.
We were 3-6 in games against those quarterbacks with our defense averaging giving up 32 points a game in those 9 games. However, we were much better against other teams. Bishop is not in the same league as those three quarterbacks and that provides a lot of hope that our defense will play well against the Riders. I'm not as optomistic if we end up playing Calgary but let's take it one game at a time and hope, that if we beat Regina..Henry Burris will be a little rusty and out of sync early.
In Regina we have to keep Bishop in the pocket and limit any big plays. If we can do that...we have a great chance of winning!!
"When I went to Catholic high school in Philadelphia, we just had one coach for football and basketball. He took all of us who turned out and had us run through a forest. The ones who ran into the trees were on the football team". (George Raveling)
