Shabazz was guilty of being a hair late on both, but both he completely pulled up on......it's a far cry from what I believed to be the point of topic here.
Ohhh thanks for clearing that up for us! We saw it differently before you explained what really happened.
Fishman, you sure you aren't a Rider fan in denial?
 Now that is funny, much funnier than intended I suspect.

Fishman has been pretty consistent on his roughing the passer and helmet to helmet hits on all the sites he visits, and I think is just trying to point out his participation on the subject at hand. Suggesting that he is discussing a much different issue than the Shabazz RP hits.

How did you see it? Did you see it in a rider-esque way, damn the torpedos.....or like Blitz in his recap which said essentially the same as me?

Rammer is quite right, I have been very consistant with these type of hits.....as I absolutely abhor them.

Frankly, many here don't know me as I don't post here much, but I can assure you that I have gone on record elsewhere and was likely the first to bring up the hits on Clermont in game one against Calgary.......I also thought Auggie should have been suspended for his hit as well, even though it was more with the side of his helmet......

By all means, if you have video evidence that shows something else....put it up. Go to the TSN broadband library and pull up the clips of them....mark 'em and post the link....I've seen them both when I noticed SM mention it in passing earlier, went back to double check as well.

The closest Buck came to a helmet to helmet hit was when Onatolu put his facemask in his chest.....

I'm simply asking a friend what he saw......

Fair enough, I just being was a bit too much of a smart as** in my reply, I haven't read his comments on other sites.
I thought we were talking about Hits on the QB; late, dirty, etc. Fishman's post just sounded like the familiar "YA, BUT" argument heard so often from fans defending players on their own teams.
The hits were penalties. I'm not concerned with a perception of trying to pull up. Time for the league to error on the side of caution. If the hit is late, it's a penalty, no "buts". No one will get anywhere by trying to differentiate between hits of the same infraction or trying to determine motive.

I didn't suggest they were anything other than penalties. I just think the league, with support of the fans, should draw a hard line with penalties. Judging intent and effort in pulling up etc is a slippery slope.
I saw penalties. Not, "it's a penalty, but..."

Re: Hits on the QB

I was actully surprised when a flag did not fly on that hit on Ray as well. The ref right there did not call anything and there has been no league action so it must be legit, but it very well could have been a flag.

There's no doubt it was legit......a legit head duck and crown of helmet to helmet head shot....

There has been far too many of these this year. They need to stop.

I'm not blaming the player who takes the shot that he knows he can get away with; I blame a League official (Tom Higgins) who sees it time and time again, says that he talks to his Officiating Crews about enforcing it, and then the very next game we see it again.

I detest the Old Boys Network that put someone as lazy as Tom Higgins in a job that can ultimately affect the safety and the lives of these athletes.

Almost anyone else would have been a better choice.

They don't need an old boy in this job, in fact they don't need a football guy either. It might be better to get someone detached from the history, coaches, and players of the league. This isn't about football; it's about rules enforcement, change management, and safety. Get someone with those type of credentials.

Re: Hits on the QB

But we have Higgins, and had Daley before him, along with Black of course. Care to guess what Daley and Higgins have in common?

The fox is in that henhouse, no doubt of it.

agreed 100%

I was leery about that selection when it was made...as it reeked of the league just trying to find a spot for one of their nice guys.

Re: Hits on the QB

Just to let you all know, Tillman was contacted by the CFL yesterday. They reviewed the hit and ruled nothing warranting fine or suspension occured. The Riders provided a game tape which showed the hit first contacted the breast plate of the shoulder pads and then the head of Ray. While I am happy I am still surprised under the new rules that a flag was not thrown

The review wouldn't have anything to do with the play being a penalty or not, just whether it was over the top enough to warrant a fine/suspension. I didn't think that it deserved that, especially under the current rules, but it should have been a penalty, something that we hear all too often after the fact in the CFL.

"Well there you go then. The league has ruled on it, no infraction or fine so it we can rest assured and let it go."

Signed the Rider Nation - referring to Murphy, Jiminez et al.

NOT.

I think it's sad that you can be happy at the league dropping the ball yet again on something that your head should tell you is wrong.

If you believe that a flag should have been thrown (going by your statement of surprise that it was not), then you must admit that there was cause for you to think that way.

It seems that you care more about some stupid perceptions about a player or play because of team bias then you do about the next guy who gets injured by one of these hits. That player could be Lloyd just as well as anyone else.

If such an unfortunate act should happen, I don't expect to hear any feelings of remorse or sympathy for said player......
