CKNW - Jimenez stayed until off-season
Moderator: Team Captains
He gets to play Sunday and the Grey Cup (if the Lions make it) so to me that's pretty much scott free. He'll likely end up sitting out a preseason game next year or the first game of the year or something like that. Jimenez should've listened to the league and sat out his one game like a man. Going after an arbitrator shows a lot about your character, look at AJ Gass. Everyone in the league hates him because of the stunt he pulled, and now you can add Jimenez to that list. I am confident that if not Sunday somewhere down the line he is going to be receiving a cheap-shot and when that happens I sincerely hope that the player that gave the cheap-shot gets away free.
I don't know. Given what we know about Jimenez' hit on Gargiulo, it sounds like it was cheapshot that happened well behind the play. Is that type of hit necessary? Was Gargiulo going to run 15 yards downfield to make the tackle, and end the play?
I can see how cut blocks - when done properly - are an effective way for O-Lineman to block for their running back, and/or Quarterback. But, I don't think that Jimenez block on Gargiulo was in that spirit. The whole incident just leaves with a bad feeling inside.

Overall, I think their reputations have been overblown. For most of this season, Jimenez has performed very well. He hasn't taken as many penalties as last year, and he's been one of BC's most consistent lineman. In this particular instance though, I think what Jimenez did was dirty, and that he does deserve to be punished.KnowItAll wrote:Jimenez, and murphy, do not have the rep they have throughout the league by being boy scouts. Clearly there is good reason to beleive the worst of him in this situation based on his rep.

You know, I'm a torn about Jer Bear's post. I like Lionbackers because it doesn't feed off the Banning process. I like to think that everybody can conduct themselves respectfully. However, at what point does respecting someone's right to post become maladaptive for the rest? I can find nothing redeemable in that post for the forum, the league or the country for that matter. The poster doesn't deserve the privilege of posting that kind of nonsense here or anywhere else for that matter.
Perhaps we can suspend him, he can appeal, have his suspension stayed, and then appoint an arbitrator to review his case and suspend him again. 20 mins. ought to just about do it. Do you think we can find any arbitrator's on this site who will hear his case?

Tell me how long must a fan be strong? Ans. Always.
well, I think the other players around the league know and see more than the refs do. That there has no been many penalties only means they are good at not getting caught very often.Luke wrote:Overall, I think their reputations have been overblown. A little sarcasm in that post? Hmmm?Sir Purrcival wrote:You know, I'm a torn about Jer Bear's post. I like Lionbackers because it doesn't feed off the Banning process. If he deserves a one game suspension he will receive a one game suspension. That is not scott free like you said. A little more thought before you write might prevent you from speaking in absolute terms that are clearly not supported by the facts. Now you are backing off, saying "to me that's pretty much scott free".Jer Bear wrote:He gets to play Sunday and the Grey Cup (if the Lions make it) so to me that's pretty much scott free. Well in that case, other than Abdullah in Edmonton way back in week two, most lineman when asked about Murphy or Jimenez have stated they play hard. If the refs were missing so many plays, wouldn't the chorus of people condemning them include a few more players, and a few less journalists, coaches, and GMs? I think Scott Schultz just admitted in an interview that they're not dirty.KnowItAll wrote:well, I think the other players around the league know and see more than the refs do. If you think that getting to play a Western Final and sitting out a pre-season game isn't getting away with a cheap-shot I really don't know what to tell you.Tighthead wrote:If he deserves a one game suspension he will receive a one game suspension. Glad you said that.JerBear wrote: Going after an arbitrator shows a lot about your character, look at AJ Gass.
So I guess you are really ticked that Jurineack is still on your team? Afterall he took his suspension to an arbitrator last year.
Same thing with Scott Schultz. He got tagged for a hit on Spergon Wynn last season and was hit with a suspension that he took to arbitration and won (and the reason why he told Team 1040 the other day that he agrees with Jiminez going through the process).
So are you then cheering for Jiminez to take out Schultz and Jurineack too, as they are low class jerks because they also took it to arbitration?
People in glass houses ...

Now that I don't live in Quesnel do I need to change my handle??

No, you're a jerk because you advocate the concept that you actively hope a human being falls victim to an injury that ends that human being's career. That's what makes you a jerk, Jerk Bear, not to mention not much of human being.Jer Bear wrote:I'm a jerk because I want a cheap player who's getting off pretty much scott-free after ending another players career to get what he deserves? Wow. Did your name lose a k Jer_ Bear.
You're welcome. Glad I could help, Jerk.
Well Schultz actually didn't get suspended for his hit on Wynn, he was fined. Schultz payed the fine and that was the end of that story. As for Jurineack...completely different situation from Gass and Jimenez. Crouch was running a QB sweep with the option to pitch it back to the RB if the defender bites too hard on the QB, Terell bit down on Crouch and at the last second crouch flicked it off to the RB while Jurineack hit Crouch. MANY people disagreed with the suspension since the purpose of the play is to have the end bite to hard on the QB. In the Gass incident he threw a helmet after the whistle which is clearly unacceptable and in Jimenez's situation Walby, Jones, Friedman et. al. are calling it one of the dirtiest plays they have ever seen. Quite different situations.LFITQ wrote:Glad you said that.JerBear wrote: Going after an arbitrator shows a lot about your character, look at AJ Gass.

Jimenez apparently advocates that concept as well. A player fell victim to a cheap-shot that ended his career and Jimenez doesn't think twice about appealing his suspension. Call me a jerk all you want but the real Jerk is Jimenez.Lions4ever wrote:No, you're a jerk because you advocate the concept that you actively hope a human being falls victim to an injury that ends that human being's career. You didn't address anything I said, so you really don't know what to tell me. Stick to the four corners of the discussion - that is lesson two.Jer Bear wrote:If you think that getting to play a Western Final and sitting out a pre-season game isn't getting away with a cheap-shot I really don't know what to tell you.Tighthead wrote:If he deserves a one game suspension he will receive a one game suspension. Do you really think sitting out a pre-season game would satisfy his suspension? Really? Or is that more hyperbole, which brings us back to lesson one.
