why is football 101 like $20 but something for kids is $99 .... I have a daughter in the age range AND she is a cheerleader but a 100 bucks seems quite steep for something like this

I'd only want to see the younger girls perform cause that would be adorable!! The 12-18 year olds wouldn't be so cute!

The Lions web page recently added some pictures of the Junior Felions performing before and during games this season, alongside the Felions. The gallery is linked at:

Despite the fairly high price of $99 + GST, it looks like the program is still very popular as several girls participated.

Do any of you have daughters who were in the program?

The updated Lions web page indicates that they will be holding this event again for the fourth straight year.

Unlike last year when this event was held early in the season in game 5, this year it will be held much later in game 13 on September 29 against Calgary. The cost of this event is still the same at $99, quite high but at least it didn't increase.

So for those of you who have daughters between the ages of 8 to 18, you can register them for this event.

The program may seem expensive, however if you think about what the girls get (t-shirts, pom-poms, game tickets, lunch, a day of rehearsal and experience on field, plus more) it is worth it. The girls always have a lot of fun and for some its a once in a lifetime experience. For the older girls it may be a foot in the door for those who are interested in auditioning in the future. Also - this event is a fundraiser for the felions, this is how we pay for our flight and hotel to greycup as well as any other expenses. We dont have a large budget so we do have to fundraise a lot of our moneys with the calendar, Jr.Felions etc . . . I just want to personally thank all of you who participate in these events and donate to the dance team. It means a lot.

Looked at this quickly. Spoke to my sister-in-law (who agreed that the cost is not really all that expensive when work shops for dance apparently can cost $50 and up easily) and my niece (she's 9) is really interested as she is really into dance. I was planning on being at the game on the 29th so we would take the Friday off school for her and head down. Had it all planned.

Killed that idea.

The dance camp is actually for SUNDAY September 23rd. A week later they get to perform on the field. The way the webpage was written we thought it was the morning/afternoon of the game on the 29th and then they get to perform that night. Sunday is impossible to make and far too expensive to come for 2 weeks in a row.

Now I have no idea how these things work, but a suggestion (and I have no idea how feasible it may be), may be to do exactly what I thought it was as I mentioned above. If it is a fundraiser, my suggestion would be to try and maximize the # of people able to attend.

And yes it is my fault because I didn't read the registration form before talking to my sister-in-law about it. It would also be nice if the webpage (and this is the webmaster's fault) stated that it was a 2-day thing and gave more information on the page rather than having to download the PDF.

I totally understand having to arrange your plans to fit in both days however, there may not be enough time or energy to fit it all in, in one day. Reason being that, the Felions have their own on field practice at about 4:00 on game days since the players get the field at 4:30. So in order to learn the routines and run through everything on field plus organize everything with the parents it makes for a very very long day which is sometimes to long for the little ones. Your talking a 12 hour day at least. Breaking the rehearsal and performance into two days allows the girls to take their time learning the rountines and time to practice during the week for their big debut Anyways I hope this gives a little insight to why things are done this way.

Yep very much so Christa! Thnx!! I figured it had something to do with "preparation" for the game. The players aren't the only ones who have to get themselves ready for gamenight!

The Junior Felions will be performing in Saturday's game. Do any of you have daughters who will be performing as a Junior Felion? LFITQ, did you end up enrolling your daughter in this program?

Nope because it is split over two weekends it is pretty much impossible for someone from the interior to do it. Plus it was my neice not my daughter that was interested. My daughter is still too young.

A long video clip of the 2007 Jr. Felions performing at halftime. It looks like enrollment was even great this year compared to last year. Were any of them your daughters? Maybe in a few years, some of these girls will become real Felions.

i did the jr.felions it was quite fun (except that my parents were in the stands on game day)
