Should the Nervy Ed Hervey be punished?

CFLPA leaving punishment for Ed Hervey’s ‘no superstars’ comment ‘up to the league’
While I think Ed Hervey making these comments on no superstars in the CFL was unwise and unhelpful to branding the league, a "superstar" is kind of subjective as is what defines "luxury" when it comes to products and as is beauty that we all likely agree upon is in the eyes of the beholder.

It doesn't rise to the level of a comment from the CFL but it's not fair to the greats of this league that I'd consider stars past and present.

“That’s really up to the league. We made our position clear, and any notion that there’s no superstars in CFL, it’s just wrong,” CFLPA president Solomon Elimimian told the media this week. “It’s unfortunate because we all should be rowing in the same direction. We all have mutual goals and it is to promote this game, which is the best game in the world. We all should be doing that with one focus.”

It was a needlessly provocative comment that won’t help Hervey’s reputation with players, but nothing worthy of league discipline.

^^^I agree. Did we really need Hervey to show us once again that he is a loose cannon loud mouth? A least he didn't break any CFL rules this time.

I distinctly recall Hervey at the press conference introducing Mike Reilly as a 'superstar'.
When asked about the back up qb plan, he was very dismissive, said something like 'I have Mike Reilly, he's a superstar, I'm not worried about a backup'.
I also recall having to be be authorized to follow his Twitter account, lol!
Not a fan of the man, at all.

He's a genuinely odd character. Saw him at Lion practices rarely talking to sports media types as he just doesn't seem to be very social. The Reilly contract legacy with BC wasn't a shining bit of history when he left.

I felt he could have and should helped his rooking HC in Devonne Claybrooks more and forced changes to the Jarius offense that featured just Bryan Burnham with slow unfolding passing routes and no running game to speak of.

And the back up was chosen by Mike later Michael Reilly in Danny O'Brien.
It seemed pretty clear he didn't want any push from a back up. Just a guy there he could work with.

Following that in 2019 he starting his coaching career as an Offensive Assistant with BC.

Then he was in the funny tryout by Eli Manning proving he can spot talent.
That was hilarious as Manning acted strangely and O'Brien saw some talent there despite the oddity of the guy..

Today he's QB coach at Penn State and Michael Reilly is in a fire dept job exactly where he wants to be.

I didn't recall reading that Michael Reilly's degree is in Mechanical Engineering but I had known of his training certification to get into fire fighting post football.

If you're going to coach you're not going back home like Reilly and QB Ricky Ray as coaching means you're moving a lot.

I agree that no suspension is warranted as he is correct that there are no superstars in the CFL. However he isa first class ass hat for saying what he said to the media.
