Just me or is a 7pm Sunday start time in Toronto (or any city) a terrible idea?
Very tough on families with young kids going to school the next day.
Unappealing to adults as well.

7 PM start on a Sunday is so wrong on many levels.

Re: Lions season opener in Toronto next Sunday
Last year TSN & CFL decided to explore Sunday Night Football which is a rating success for the NFL. TSN ratings proved it was very successful. Even taking out the 975K who tuned in for the Bombers/Riders LDC they still averaged 544K making it more popular for the TV audience than TNF and the early (7pm Eastern time) FNF game. If I recall last year all SNF games, regardless of home team time zone, were also played to fit into Sunday night primetime at 7pm EDT. The timeslot is definitely for benefit of the TV market as other than MLB Sunday night baseball there's nothing for it to compete with in terms of live sports. I think there's also a thought that the 7pm EDT/4pm PDT kickoffs allow attendees to go through most of their usual summer time weekend activities AND take in the football game.
Also remember these Sunday games start with Week 1 and end with the Sunday Labour Day Classic. Only 2 or at most 3 (for kids who have classes June 24-28) coincide with the school year. The remaining 10 don't.

They did that last season 4pm all last year until Labour Day
Reason under 35 don’t watch tv Friday Saturday nights, that why we have Thursday and Sundays
Re: Lions season opener in Toronto next Sunday
I am fine with 7:00pm Eastern EDT (4:00pm PDT). The later the better. I don't have the stats to back this up, but we tend to play sluggishly at 1:00pm or 2:00pm (local) kick-offs (remember those Eastern cross-over trips to Hamilton and Montreal and we'd get trounced?), because players' body clocks are on PDT and we fly in the day before.

Sunday evening works fine for me. I usually wouldn't have time during the day on Sunday to sit and watch a game. If I was going to the game in person, that might be a different story though.

I record all CFL games and some NFL games and watch them when convenient and fast forward through commercials and sometimes between plays. I can watch a 3 hour game in just over an hour.maxlion wrote: Tue Jun 04, 2024 6:45 pm Sunday evening works fine for me. I usually wouldn't have time during the day on Sunday to sit and watch a game. Never been able to do that, at least not since the days before PVRs and cell phones equipped with with internet and wifi. I'm just not wired that way. If I have any interest in a game that I can't catch live on TV I'm following along on the internet. I'm checking the scores and stats as the game progresses. By the time the game wraps up I already know who won, final score, stats etc. Highlights on Sports Centre fill in the rest.DanoT wrote: Tue Jun 04, 2024 10:03 pmI record all CFL games and some NFL games and watch them when convenient and fast forward through commercials and sometimes between plays. Re: Lions season opener in Toronto next Sunday
Sometimes I listen to a Lions game on the radio, which is a slightly delayed broadcast and then I sinc the radio broadcast with a slightly delayed PVR taped broadcast. It is a bit of a pain and there is no fast forwarding thru commercials but it is nice to watch a game with a local Lions commentary.
Re: Lions season opener in Toronto next Sunday
I watch the game via the TSN app which is even more delayed from the live TV broadcast.... usually the TSN app is behind the radio broadcast by at least one play..... I also like having the local commentary from the radio. I must be less bothered by menu discussions than others here. I expect some discussions about Mama C's on Sunday, so when it happens, I just "let it go"....DanoT wrote: Wed Jun 05, 2024 8:39 pm Sometimes I listen to a Lions game on the radio, which is a slightly delayed broadcast and then I sinc the radio broadcast with a slightly delayed PVR taped broadcast. Lol. With Moj and Guillio you're going to find out more about food than football.Dusty wrote: Thu Jun 06, 2024 8:29 amI watch the game via the TSN app which is even more delayed from the live TV broadcast.... usually the TSN app is behind the radio broadcast by at least one play..... I must admit, I find Giulio's stories about Mama Caravatta and growing up Italian-Canadian to be highly entertaining. I could listen to those stories all night.
I grew up around a lot of Italians in my teen years so I can relate to the tomato garden and using Giulio's good hockey sticks (now sawed up!) to support the tomato vines.

Yes indeed. I can't remember which of the regular TSN1040 timeslots he would get brought in for a segment but he always offered some hilarious family stories.David wrote: Thu Jun 06, 2024 10:15 am I must admit, I find Giulio's stories about Mama Caravatta and growing up Italian-Canadian to be highly entertaining. We have a pool with some of our friends when Moj and Guillo start talking about food.Hambone wrote: Thu Jun 06, 2024 10:05 amLol.
