2011 schedule released
Know the smallest things and the biggest things, the shallowest things and the deepest things. As if it were a straight road mapped out on the ground ... These things cannot be explained in detail. From one thing, know ten thousand things. When you attain the Way of strategy there will not be one thing you cannot see. You must study hard.

Re: 2011 schedule released
No Hamilton-Toronto Labour Day back-to-back games?
Are they serious?
I am a Lions fan through and through, but Esks-Stamps and Ti-Cats-Argos back-to-back are traditions I look forward to every year.
Shame on the schedule-maker for insulting history.

Overall, it's not bad given all the scheduling problems in B.C. and Toronto.
Re: 2011 schedule released
I was hoping for a PNE game. It was really cool getting into the PNE fair with the gameticket. Saw tons of Lions fans all throughout the day. Oh well.....
Glad the BC Place opener is not a Rider/Lion game.

I love the schedule. We get to watch outdoor games in the sun, then come inside for the colder games :D :D

Re: 2011 schedule released
Well, I wish we were starting against Hamilton or Toronto, but it's alright. I guess we're going to be tested early on.
Re: 2011 schedule released
Thursday night games suck! who's idea is that? ...and why??? Somebody explain why Thursday night is a good time to have a game? It's not a 100 game schedule. It's less than twenty with a league that's less than ten. How can you have a scheduling conflict with that scenario.
I work for a living. Thursday nights are out, in my world. If I was retired or unemployed or in prison, I wouldn't care.

The Labour Day game is played in Hamilton not Toronto so I still don't get why they aren't playingJohnHenry wrote:The lack of a Ham-Tor Labour Day game is due to scheduling conflicts at Rogers Centre.

It all boils down to the Pan Am Games. That's one of the reasons Ticats are doing the Moncton game.
Ivorr wynne stadium is being renovated. I've also read that the Argo fans aren't too keen on Ticat hospitality.
http://ca.news.yahoo.com/hamilton-counc ... 0-445.htmlHAMILTON - Hamilton city council has voted unanimously in favour of a plan to renovate Ivor Wynne Stadium for the 2015 Pan American Games.
The proposal now goes to the Pan Am Games organizing committee for approval.
This afternoon's vote came a day after the Ontario government stepped in with about $22.5 million to cover a funding gap in the $152-million project.
The renovation involves the complete reconstruction of 15,000 seats in the south stands at Ivor Wynne, along with a 10,000 seat renovation in the north stands.
Hamilton's share is about $54 million and the stadium will serve as the new home for the CFL's Tiger-Cats.
It has yet to be decided where the Tiger-Cats will play for one season while the work is carried out, but the football club will deal with those costs.
Ticats owner Bob Young says the team looks forward to beginning a new tradition in its historic location.
"Today's announcement is very positive news for the Pan Am Games and the legacy of amateur sports," Young said in a release.
"We look forward to working with all parties to transform the plan into a facility that will make us all proud," he said.

I agree. What fun is it if you have to go to work tomorrow? If you're going to go to a game, you might as well go all out and enjoy it.zark wrote:Thursday night games suck! who's idea is that? ...and why??? Re: 2011 schedule released
It would have created a situation where the Argos had something like six road games in eight weeks and would have had to have their last five in a row at home, or some sort of weird imbalance. I understand tradition and all but it doesn't strike me as a huge deal. It's a one year hiatus and, hey, for me it means a four day weekend in TO so I'm all for it.D wrote:The Labour Day game is played in Hamilton not Toronto so I still don't get why they aren't playingJohnHenry wrote:The lack of a Ham-Tor Labour Day game is due to scheduling conflicts at Rogers Centre.

Re: 2011 schedule released
As it stands, the Argos have to play 7 of their first 11 on the road so playing on Labour Day in Hamilton would have only added to what is already a very road-heavy schedule over the first 12 weeks. I believe the league when they say that they tried everything within reason to retain the traditional Labour Day game this year. They know that they will take a beating from fans and media over this but what can you do when you don't have much choice?cromartie wrote:It would have created a situation where the Argos had something like six road games in eight weeks and would have had to have their last five in a row at home, or some sort of weird imbalance.
