Go, Bombers

"I have all the confidence in the world in Ryan, Ryan has all the confidence in himself," Berry said. "We feel we should be the favourite team, not the underdog."
Dinwiddie spent most of the season holding a clipboard, completing 17-of-24 passes for 175 yards in very limited duty. Against Toronto, he was 4-of-4 passing for 80 yards.

The six-foot, 189-pound native of Elk Grove, Calif., was a three-year starter at Boise State and twice was a Western Athletic Conference all-star.

However, Dinwiddie is just 28-of-48 passing during his two seasons in Canada for 282 yards and a touchdown.
Saskatchewan defensive lineman Scott Schultz said he's excited but is trying to treat it like a normal game.

"It's just some fat guys running into each other," Schultz said. "That hasn't changed, just the venue has."
Schultz is sounding "fat and sassy," if you ask me. I think Schultz is a terrific player, and very humourous, but I am rooting for the Bombers to upset the Riders.

The game will have a sellout crowd of 52,230.

It will be the first-ever matchup between these two teams in the championship game.

What to watch
The Province
Published: Sunday, November 25, 2007
Province football writer Lowell Ullrich outlines five things to watch during and after today's Grey Cup game:

- Backup Winnipeg QB Ryan Dinwiddie might now be wishing he took up repeated advances five years ago to sign by the Lions for the experience he could have gained to be used today. The Bombers figure to take the game out of his hands at least early with a large helping of TB Charles Roberts, who has only had single-digit carry totals three times in 17 career meetings against the Riders.

- Roberts may be the only thing that will keep the Riders out of sustained blitz packages, a preferred strategy of standout Saskatchewan defensive co-ordinator Richie Hall when facing new pivots over the years.

Winnipeg also blitzes often enough to be effective, but the Riders have a nasty counter-punch as part of their attack. For two straight playoff weeks, opponents have been unable to stop big Riders gains using dumpoff passes from QB Kerry Joseph out the backfield. Saskatchewan will look for ways to get around Bombers LB Barrin Simpson.

- Best one-on-one matchup hands down: Winnipeg SB Milt Stegall vs. Saskatchewan DHB Eddie Davis. Stegall, likely playing his last game, runs great routes and Davis has been a glue-like cover guy for years.

- Don't turn away from the victory podium if commissioner Mark Cohon is handing over the Grey Cup to the Riders. Cohon and several Saskatchewan officials had bitter, behind-the-scenes exchanges this year when the Riders were fined for speaking out. Citing injuries, Saskatchewan has also already admitted it is $150,000 over the salary cap this year.

 Ah, back to typical CFL. These are the kinds of reasons why the Riders shouldn't be so quick to point fingers....Do as we say, not as we do. There is no question they've been bit by the injury bug. Hope to see what kind of teeth this SMS in regards to their 'violations'

If the Bombers win this, you just know this will give the league's detractors ammunition... "Feh, how bush, some QB who never started a pro game comes in and wins the GC. Doesn't say much for the talent level."
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

Bombers have the field position edge so far.

Gheezus.

KJ runs for 34. The guy was tried as a RB in the NFL. He is so hard to tackle. The Bombers have to make him pay every time he has the ball.

When he runs, his confidence grows, even after a lousy start to the game.
