Jason Jimenez Suspended
Toronto, ON - (November 12, 2007) - The Canadian Football League (CFL) announced today that it has imposed a one-game suspension on offensive lineman Jason Jimenez of the B.C. Lions for Rough Play on an illegal block on defensive lineman Anthony Gargiulo of the Calgary Stampeders during the Saturday, November 3 game at B.C. Place Stadium. This decision was determined following an extensive review process that included a formal hearing.
Through the CFL-CFLPA Collective Bargaining Agreement, each CFL player has the right to have a disciplinary decision of the Commissioner reviewed by an independent arbitration process. The CFL has yet to be informed if Mr. Jimenez has elected to pursue his rights under this process.

Nah, not really. It was semi-finals weekend, as well as Remembrance day, so made sense to keep the "negativity" away from the media spectacle until today.joesports wrote:This decision took way too long to be released.
As fans, we ALL hate it, and think it took too long, but I think they did the right thing, with regards to everything that was going on this weekend.

This is BULL****!!! The league just successfully took away the Lions 2-week advantage with respect to offensive line preparation by taking a full 9 DAYS to make a decision on something that should have been dealt with in about 3-4.
Jason Jiminez is suspended for a legal play all because a Stampeder suffered a booboo??? GIMME A BREAK!!!
As many have pointed out in the other thread, similar events have happened involving Nik Lewis and Kelly Whiltshire which resulted in NO SUSPENSION.
Wally gets fined for interpreting the rules in a presser, and Jiminez gets suspended for playing WITHIN THE RULES???

I highly doubt the Lions lost any advantage and, I am sure they were preparing for this...the fact that it is already Monday. almost ensures that should Jimenez choose to do so, he could appeal and be available this week. IMO thats what he should do. You get to the game you still have a chance to win. And the Rider pass rush scares me more than any eastern opponent. We need him more this week.

Would you like some cheese with that whine? It was ruled during the game that the penalty was after the whistle. That was not the case on Nik Lewis.
How do you know that the Lions weren't advised earlier and the public release was not made in order to not distract form the semi weekend.
