Abdullah started all this crap, and the rest of the league has tried to use it to their advantage, and now it's become a propaganda circus.
Maybe one day someone will clue in that all this does is fire Murphy up to dominate even more than he does.
You're right... :lol:TheLionKing wrote:This thread has gone 180
Time for David Braley to pull some strings and get rid of the spinless CommishLuke wrote: The fact that this smear campaign, mostly on the part of Eric Tillman and Jim Popp, has influenced the league the way it has is a disgrace. The fact that Mark Cohon has even fined him for being 'intimidating' shows an incredible lack of spine on his part.
Thats a good point. He probably was fined for that, but what about the letter he received after the Montreal game? What did he do in that game that was so objectionable? I was there live, and I don't recall seeing anything.JohnHenry wrote:I think the league's "intimidating" fine on Murphy was for when he held Chick down and had his arm cocked threatening to punch him...which is outside the normal football play. It is one thing to be intimidating with legal football plays, but another to intimidate with threat of physical harm.
I guess that's why Murphy sent him that autographed picture before the last game...He also said Fred Perry was one of his biggest fans.
HA!!!! yeah Maria could pound the poo out of himWestCoastJoe wrote:Wally Buono vs Eric Tillman?

Hardly seems fair.
Perhaps it should be a WWE handicap match.
Wally Buono and Maria vs Vince McMahon and Tillman.
Tillman is the handicap.
Sounds about right.
Still not fair, though. Buono and McMahon about even, but Maria could pound Tillman.
There is even a Wrestler name and outfit ready for Tillman.
In this corner ... Piss Ant (short form). Little Red-haired Piss Ant (long form). (I understand Pissant is the correct spelling, but, what the heck, ... creative license ...
Dictionary says pissant means: insignificant.
Sounds about right.
Exactly. It annoys me when everyone says that he is a dirty player. He plays the way the game is supposed to be played in the trenches, HARD!!!joesports wrote:I just caught the end of this interview with Murphy. Anyone else hear it?
He said Wally's never told him to change his style of play. Also said he will likely be appealing his fine.
He also mentioned he told the commissioner that at the end of the game with the Riders, he and Chick shook hands. As in, no hard feelings, it's part of the game.
He did mention how frustrating it's getting for him with the officials seeming to look for a reason to throw a flag....one game, the official was reaching for his flag before Murphy even did anything. As Rintoul said, they're punishing him for being intimidating.
He's the kind of guy every other team gripes about, but would have him on their own team in a heartbeat.
A great guy.
he does play hard noone disagrees with that, now if he wouldn't get involved in the extracurricular stuff he might not have the "dirty" moniker. he has been ejected from a game and then fined at least once in each season he has played, that tends to tell you something, when there are players that go a whole career without ever being tossed out.Scottish Leos Fan wrote:Exactly. What extracurricular stuff? He held Chick down after pulling him off our QB, if any OL doesn't remove a DL from trying to rip the ball from his QB while he is down, he would be put to task by the HC. Now if you are going to cry about the Braidwood incident, he at least gave back in an honest way, as he had come out of that game with gouging around his eyes. Or are you talking about the club motion on Perry, which was very close to legal, just a tiny bit higher than he is allowed to do. That is the only one that I have witnessed this season as a concern and that was only after Perry had taken a run at his QB, so it amounts to much like a pitcher in baseball tossing at a batters head in retaliation.wildthing wrote:he does play hard noone disagrees with that, now if he wouldn't get involved in the extracurricular stuff he might not have the "dirty" moniker. he has been ejected from a game and then fined at least once in each season he has played, that tends to tell you something, when there are players that go a whole career without ever being tossed out.Scottish Leos Fan wrote:Exactly. You don't get fined/ejected if you are doing regular stuff. its the extra stuff that gets you those penalties. He plays hard I never disagreed, but his history in the league shows continual disregard to stop when a play is done. I think the fact that he has been ejected and fined at least once a season shows that he crosses the line and is "dirty" to a point. You guys bring up the stats about less penalties for holding, roughing etc. but look at the the history of your team since Murphy and Jiminez have joined and I believ the scales are tipped by fines and suspensions after the fact, those are what define whether a player is dirty or not. One time hey everyone can have a bad day, but at least once each season is a trend that makes a very distinctive statement about the player.Rammer wrote:What extracurricular stuff? I will wait on the fine, he is going to beat that one. If you are going to suggest his ejection in the Eskimo game was a) warranted or b) without provocation, then you have missed the reasoning factor. That ejection was in retaliation, but it also let Braidwood and Abdullah know that they had better be prepared to answer their calling out, and actions. No problems there on that ejection, that was a mans reaction to a boys challenge.wildthing wrote:You don't get fined/ejected if you are doing regular stuff. its the extra stuff that gets you those penalties.
