Was mentioned Kenny Lawler has tagged the Lions and Ottawa on his social media accounts. As sad as it is he would make people get over Hatcher.
The other 2 guys I wanted to mention were Cam Phillips and Terry Godwin neither of whom played in the league last year but were quite good the year before. I think it was Hollins contract that started the fallout in Hamilton and he was released. No idea what they are up to.

That’s a loss. He was good national depth for Betts. Nathan Cherry is also a pending FA. Francis Bemiy is still under contract but he and Cherry have both been limited by injuries.Hambone wrote: Mon Feb 03, 2025 2:30 pm Josh Archibald reportedly agrees to terms to go back home to Montreal.

Why do I have this feeling that the west is getting much stronger and we are being left behind. Can anyone ease my angst?

Agreed, this is a loss. I enjoyed his play and had hoped Archibald would become a long term Lion.
Re: Potential Lions 2025 free agent list
I thought Rugamba was the weak link among vets in the secondary last year. It started in training camp when he played 2 positions, taking first-team reps at SAM and third-team reps at HB. It was touted by the Lions as a sign of his versatility, but at both positions he was regularly picked on and beaten in man coverage. I thought Rene and Lee both played well at SAM last year. Lee is a better tackler and is strong against the run for a person of his size, but I would have preferred to leave Rene there all season and move Lee at HB when he returned. I still hope that's what happens this year if Lee is re-signed.

Saw this posted on the Elks forum.
Justin Dunk was on the Gregor show and mentioned that Ceresna took 225 to play in Edm when TO offered him 240k. He also mentioned that EH raised the bar on the DB market giving Ford 225 when no one made that much last year.
That's big money for Tyrell Ford

Good sir, this is 2025 and the capacity to ease angst is, I'm afraid, currently in very short supply.Lion Guy wrote: Mon Feb 03, 2025 4:22 pm Why do I have this feeling that the west is getting much stronger and we are being left behind. Can anyone ease my angst?
That being said, EE is a very bad team with a lot of cap room poaching very good teams. It's a part of the circle of sports free agency life.

The two prized American FA receivers are off the board with Geno Lewis agreeing to terms with Ottawa and now Kenny Lawler with Hamilton. Both heading East is a good thing for the Lions. In a Grey Cup hosting year I thought the Bombers would find a way to at least keep Ford or Lawler — not lose both, especially with Bighill's contract also off the books. They should at least have the cap room to re-sign Liam Dobson,

Among the things players have to consider when switching teams is comparative housing costs. I suspect the difference in housing in TO vs ED is more than $15k per year.don corleone wrote: Tue Feb 04, 2025 4:28 am Saw this posted on the Elks forum.

I’m not sure what Calgary is doing to surround VA with talent while other teams are spending money. I wouldn’t have wanted Lawler at a reported $275,000 a year, but I’m glad he didn’t land in the West.SammyGreene wrote: Tue Feb 04, 2025 8:01 am The two prized American FA receivers are off the board with Geno Lewis agreeing to terms with Ottawa and now Kenny Lawler with Hamilton. Your question re: Adams and receivers has been answered BCF. Apparently Rhymes and Tevin Jones have both agreed to terms with Calgary.

And Jeshrun Antwi is also apparently heading to Cowtown where he played his college ball.

The Tiger-Cats have also come to terms with Liam Dobson. I would like to know what Bombers GM Kyle Walters is doing with his cap space.
Between Bighill and Lawler they spent $450,000 last season that is now off their books. Schoen signed for less money than he made a year ago. Yes, Holm probably got a modest pay bump as an American DB and they have signed Peyton Logan & Gavin Cobb but I really thought Lawler or Ford would be staying put in a Grey Cup hosting season.
