Lions / Rourke restructure contract

https://www.cfl.ca/2025/01/31/rourke-li ... structure/

Methinks the Lions may be active in free agency.

Farhan says they are very close to getting McInnis done. Also reported earlier today they are among a number of teams interested in DT Mike Rose.

I haven’t seen any numbers yet on Rourke’s new deal. His original deal signed last year had a cap hit of $549,200 in 2025 and $609,000 in 2026, according to 3downnation.com.

Farhan Lalji says Rourke’s new deal will pay him $624,000 in hard money this year, including $200,000 in marketing money, for a cap hit of $424,000.

Re: Lions / Rourke restructure contract

Rourke is still the highest paid QB in the CFL.

After his NFL sojourn, I'd have thought they'd not have done what they did in that overly rich contract as he basically only wanted to be back in BC at the time and that's setting aside the divisiveness it raised on VA's return to health.

It was to this fan a no-brainer that the Lions re-signed Justin McInnis. If they let him go I doubt anybody would be happy.
B.C. Lions re-sign CFL’s receiving yards leader, Canadian Justin McInnis
By Justin Dunk -January 31, 2025

That yardage total was the second-highest ever in one season by a B.C. Lions Canadian receiver after Matt Clark produced 1,530 in 1991. It was the eighth-best for a Canadian all-time, surpassing names such as Fantuz, Brad Sinopoli, Jeff Fairholm and Ray Elgaard.
Dalton Schoen re-did a deal with the Bombers. I liked his play but that offense was designed to hit the likes of him, Demski and company - no favourites.
