Not retiring just yet, and he may be picked up by someone else, but Adam Bighill's time with the Bombers appears to be over

The writing was on the wall when they gave his injury replacement Tony Jones a 2 year extension. Jones started a few games at WIL while Kyrie Wilson was out then shifted to MAC for the rest of the season. Wilson was also extended a few weeks ago.

That would likely cost them Schoen, Lawler or both.

Schoen is dreaming if he thinks anyone is going to pay him after last season. I think he is back with the Bombers at substantially less however they camouflage it. His best bet is a 1 year deal with hopes of having a good year. He was good in 2023.

Interesting that they have not re-signed Lawler and I think the market is waiting to see who pays up for Eugene Lewis or Justin McInnis first. Appears it will be closer to $200,000 than $300,000 imo and would put Alexander Hollins amongst the leagues highest paid receivers. I believe Begelton was re-signed for Around $225,000. Lawler might be good value in that range if you can put up with him yelling at the refs every time he doesn't get a call.

Re: Bo Lokombo retires

Schoen didn't just have a great 2023. He also had a great 2022 rookie season too. First 2 seasons 141 catches for 2663 yards and 26 TDs while picking up CFL rookie-of-the-year honours and 2 All-CFL awards. Leading the CFL in 2022 he finished 3rd in yardage in 2023, 4 yards behind Hatcher and 47 behind Tim White. He led the CFL in TDs both years. Of course last year he was lost for the season part way thru Winnipeg's 3rd game so who knows where he might have wound up for stats. Injury last year or not if the Bombers don't sign him for $200K+ there will be multiple teams willing to do so unless there is a huge resetting of the market......which should negate McInnis from making more than $200K.

Would it make sense for Calgary to pay Begelton $40K more for 2025 than he was already under contract for? 3D reported him at $184K hard money, $187K max in 2024 but didn't provide 2025 details. A Calgary Herald article indicated he was to get $420K over the two years 2024-25. The two seem to be a bit contradictory unless 2025 was calling for $240K.

I don't think teams can wait for another team to blink before signing their own key pending FAs. Play that game and you can wind up empty handed. Set your own budget and what you believe fair market is and git 'er done.
