Thanks David. I look forward to doing this each year. I'd love to read some reports from the Surrey practice facility during the season if anyone in the area is so inclined.David wrote: Wed May 29, 2024 9:16 pm Can't thank you enough for your stellar reporting, B.C.FAN. I must say that without it, and Hambone's contributions too, that I would be somewhat lost as to who's doing what. I looked forward to your in-depth summaries each day. They brought me much closer to my favourite team. Well done.![]()

I would really like to see Mackie get some reps carrying the ball on Friday night. With him and Stanbeck hitting the Elks D-Line hard it could open up a lot of receivers.B.C.FAN wrote: Thu May 30, 2024 10:39 am The Lions' starting lineup for Friday's final preseason game is the same as the first-team offence and defence that they've deployed at training camp.
Projected new starters on offence this year are former Montreal RB Will Stanback, second-year Lions receivers Ayden Eberhardt and Justin McInnis and former Philadelphia Eagle Travis Fulgham.
New projected starters on defence are national DT Christian Covington, former Rider Pete Robertson, free agent DB Ciante Evans and CB Jordan Perryman, the only true rookie in the first-team offence or defence.
The battle for depth positions comes to a head Friday before the Lions make their final cuts. Tyler Packer appears to be the front-runner for the sixth O-line position ahead of Andrew Peirson. Former NFLer Kyle Nelson seems to have won the long-snapping role from Riley Pickett, who has been converted to backup fullback and special teamer. Several American receivers are in the mix for practice roster positions. They've all been good but no one has stood out in the way that Eberhardt did last year. Second-year DB Siriman Bagayogo and promising rookie Christophe Beaulieu are both fighting to stay on the roster with veteran national DBs Adrian Greene and Patrice Rene. Charlie Ringland is more likely destined for the practice roster.
I think they want Bemiy to be available to rotate for Covington at least until Cherry is medically cleared to go all out. Cherry probably starts the season on the 1G for a game or three. Whether Archibald takes any reps on D or not he's a lock due to his ST prowess.David wrote: Thu May 30, 2024 2:09 pm Bemiy seems to have had a good camp. Was effective in Calgary. Likely to stay (takes Debaillie's spot?).
Archibald has shown steady growth, emerging as an effective special teamer. Stays.
But what about Falaniko who's listed ahead of Archibald on tomorrow's depth chart a DE?
Siddiqi should be even better at DE after a year under his CFL belt.
Decisions, decisions.

So Beimy and Cherry can rotate with the three technique, while Daballie plays the nose.B.C.FAN wrote: Thu May 30, 2024 3:03 pm It took a few years to come to this decision but Rick Campbell said today that the Lions decided to get bigger this year on the offensive and defensive lines and at running back. They have the bigger bodies to do it. The rotations on the defensive line will be interesting. Moore took first-team reps when Covington missed a week of training camp. Debaillie has been a consistent force on the second team. Tavai and Taylor have both shown in limited reps that they can get penetration up the middle. I don’t know if the Lions will commit to keeping a national D-lineman on the field when Covington rotates out. Bemiy and Cherry are a bit undersized for what Campbell wants.
You guys had games last year with Greene, Bagayogo and Rene backing up in the secondary. Probably one of the only teams to use more DBs, than LBs for special teams.B.C.FAN wrote: Thu May 30, 2024 10:39 am The Lions' starting lineup for Friday's final preseason game is the same as the first-team offence and defence that they've deployed at training camp.

Yes, and Beaulieu and Ringland give the Lions 5 potential quality national DBs. I expect Beaulieu to land a roster spot.CrazyCanuck89 wrote: Fri May 31, 2024 1:17 pm You guys had games last year with Greene, Bagayogo and Rene backing up in the secondary. They could rotate nationals at 3-tech if necessary but that leaves out Moore, who the coaches seem to prefer as Covington’s backup.CrazyCanuck89 wrote: Fri May 31, 2024 1:14 pmSo Beimy and Cherry can rotate with the three technique, while Daballie plays the nose.B.C.FAN wrote: Thu May 30, 2024 3:03 pm It took a few years to come to this decision but Rick Campbell said today that the Lions decided to get bigger this year on the offensive and defensive lines and at running back.
