Apparently he had been battling prostate cancer for a few years.

Re: RIP Darryn Dutchyshen
Darryn Dutchyshen was a larger than life presence just on TV. When he was on, as he was enthusiastic I found myself listening more carefully than some others as you knew he was good for something colourful.“He passed as he was surrounded by his closest loved ones,” the Dutchyshen family said. “His sharp wit remained until his final moments, classically delivering plenty of jokes – most of them pretty good and all of them inappropriate.”
He was a giant at TSN.
Sad, indeed and as Dave Naylor said it's a tough day at TSN.
Lots of love on X including fans and others sports folks/organizations.

TSN will be honouring him over the next few days.

Re: RIP Darryn Dutchyshen
My viewership goes back before his TSN days. We used to get ITV out of Edmonton on our cable setup in Woss. They carried a nightly half hour sports show called Sports Night. Perry Solkowski often co-hosted. This was probably in the late 80s. It was a good show. I always looked forward to tuning in especially on Monday nights when Bryan Hall had a 5 minute segment. Dutchy was always trying to needle Hallsie throughout the segment. Great entertainment.
