It certainly doesn't look like Fabien will be signed before the draft.

Will the Lions acquire the right to make the first pick from Hamilton? Would their own first plus the rights to Fabien get them that pick? At this stage Wally might not offer that much. If the Lions are truly in the market for that pick, I would assume it is to draft Lynden Gaydosh, D Lineman. That would be cool.

Will the Lions draft a D Lineman in the first round?

Will they then draft another O Lineman in round 2? Or will they try to find depth behind J.R. LaRose?

Assuming Fabien is not signed before the draft, how will things play out between the Lions and his agent as time goes on?

Wally might just park his personal feelings in the matter, and continue to negotiate in good faith as summer approaches. I can't say that Hardaway has it in his makeup to negotiate in good faith. Fabien may sign before TC or not. I have to ask if Hardaway has any consideration for the needs of his client, or if this is all just about Hardaway gambling to get those larger commissions for NFL contracts. I gathered that Fabien was not exactly from a wealthy family. Even the relatively low pay for a CFL O Lineman would be nice for a young man just out of college.

Draft coming up at 900 am PT.

All going to depend on how the Lions have the prospects ranked. Beyond Mike Edem who is a LB who many seem to believe can become a CFL safety there doesn't appear to be any DB/S prospects worthy of using a 2nd rounder on. And Edem's stock seems to have risen to the point where some prognisticators/mock drafters have him going in the top 4 so he could be off the board when BC's 1st pick comes up. Conversely why use a 2nd round selection on a DB/S prospect if you can get the same player with a 3rd or 4th? I think the only way BC takes a DB/S prospect with their 2nd (12th overall) pick is if they think that player is one of the top 12 prospects in the draft. With the glut of DL and OL talent in the top 15 I think BC will go DL or OL at #6 and #12. And if Steven Lumbala is still available at #21 I think they'd take him ahead of the likes of Gabriel or Robertson who for whatever it's worth are ranked #25 & #37 respectively by Duane Forde. Even if he's undervaluing them considerably I think it equates to being a reach to use a top 12 pick on either one. If finding depth for Larose is such a high priority to make such a reach it would indicate S is a bigger priority than DL or OL in which case they should do whatever it takes to secure Edem with their 6th overall pick.

So much for the Lumbala Bros in the backfield. Montreal takes Steven at #5. Looks like we could be in for another wildly unpredictable CFL draft ride. Most of the remaining top dozen ranked players are a minefield of guys who have or will draw some NFL interest.

Hunter Steward it is.

From Forde:

17. Hunter Steward (OT, Liberty): redshirt junior; spent the first two years of his NCAA career as a D-Lineman at Virginia; still a work in progress but, at 6'7" this prototypical left tackle has significant upside

After 2 DL to start the draft has swung heavily to OL. Should still be a good DL available at 12. I'd think Winnipeg having taken DL at #2 would look to another position for their second pick unless they want to hedge their bets with Mulumba being signed by Green Bay. D'Aguilier or Charles should be available for BC.
