2012 WDF Attendance

Re: 2012 WDF Poll #4 - The Attendance
Yeah I freakin hate that 1:30 start time. I don't understand why it can't be a 3-3:30 start. I know some people have no issue with it but I have such a hard time drinking beer so early in the day. That start time is a bummer if you ask me.
Re: 2012 WDF Poll #4 - The Attendance
45K+ if the green team from Regina is the representative as they bring out the best atmosphere from the hometown crowd perspective.
Entertainment value = an all time low

whats beer got to do with it?MikeAK wrote:Yeah I freakin hate that 1:30 start time. I don't understand why it can't be a 3-3:30 start. I know some people have no issue with it but I have such a hard time drinking beer so early in the day. That start time is a bummer if you ask me.

If there's one drag factor that concerns me it's Lulay's health. If Reilly has to play these last two games in their entirety and doesn't continue to shine like he did last week then this will dampen enthusiasm from the casual fanbase.MikeAK wrote:The early clinch and selling window will definitely help as well. Add the "no hockey" and I believe this could be a pretty sweet crowd.
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

I like to drink a few beer during games. I don't like drinking beer so early in the day. The early start makes hit hard for me to enjoy beer. I don't like such an early game. I thought it was pretty obvious in my post?KnowItAll wrote:whats beer got to do with it?MikeAK wrote:Yeah I freakin hate that 1:30 start time. I don't understand why it can't be a 3-3:30 start. I question the apparent NEED to drink beer during every game. So its an early game, so you dont drink beer during that game, so what?MikeAK wrote:I like to drink a few beer during games. You can question my opinion all you want but I'll throw that question right back at you. So what? How does what I enjoy doing during a game effect you? I gave my opinion on why I don't like early games. Whats your problem with that? You don't have to like nor understand my opinion but guess what, it's an opinion. Not a debate. And FYI I never said I NEED to drink beer during a game. I said I LIKE to drink a few beer during games. Could care less whether you understand that or not.KnowItAll wrote:I question the apparent NEED to drink beer during every game. KnowItAll apparently does not.
Right on MikeAK, I too enjoy a beverage or two while watching the Leos (do most football fans really need to explain this - wow!), and I'm sure the local establishments enjoy the profits from the pregame festivities, which will be significantly reduced for a 1:30 start, compared to a 3 or 4pm start.
Remember that BC Place is described by the gov't as an 'economic generator', and this is a purrfect example of a missed opportunity.

1:30 pm starts have been going on for years at the western final. nobody complianed back in the mid 80's when we were geting 60,000 or even 2004,2006,2007 when we got over 50,000,

Personally I wouldn't base anything on data from Tickect Master
My Uncle works for ticket master here in Vancouver ( assistant manager) he says the new map the lions have is about 97 percent accurate, the old way was about 70 percent accurate, he thinks the lions are nearing 30,000, and at this pace it will be in the high 40,s or past 50.000

I hope they can sell the joint out. Gives the Lions a great boost on the field. Not that they need it but it certainly makes a better game day experience for the fans with a full venue.
Re: 2012 WDF Poll #4 - The Attendance
As I stated in an earlier thread several days ago, the staff at ticketmaster told me then there were only single seats available for the game! I talked to one agent and then a supervisor who confirmed that to be true? All the while their map told a different story, so frankly,no offense to your uncle ,but the folks selling tickets and him seem to not be on the same page. I wonder how much out of town business this is costing?dfootball wrote:Personally I wouldn't base anything on data from Tickect Master

And ironically when it was played later in the day like the 2005 WDF when it started at 3:00 PM, attendance was not good.dfootball wrote:Yeah I freakin hate that 1:30 start time. Reasons why attendance was fairly low in the WDSF in 1986:
1) Fans were upset that the team had to settle for second in the west after finishing first for three straight years and had to see a division semi-final again.
2) The fans money already went to the Grey Cup game, being hosted for the second time at BC Place.
3) The fans money went to Expo 86 held that year.
4) Ticket prices may have increased dramatically.
5) It was held on a Saturday afternoon, November 15, 1986.

Acually staf members are not suppose to give out information of how many tickets are sold, because they do not know only the supervisers and managers know.
yes there are singles only on the lower bowl sidelines, there is still lots left in the upper deck, and yes they have opend up the whole stadium.
