Who would have predicted Phoenix and Los Angeles in the conference final ?
Well, I guess if you're a Canucks fan, you can take a little bit of consolation that St. Louis was even less of a match for LA.TheLionKing wrote:Who would have predicted Phoenix and Los Angeles in the conference final ?
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.
Despite rumours indicating otherwise, Alain Vigneault will return as head coach with a recent contract extension.

I'm in favour of Vigneault coming back.

Heard that it's 2 years plus an option.
Probably not the right thread but why start another...?
Couple neat thoughts heard on tonights local sportscasts.... Weird how two ex-Canucks were a big part of last nights Stanley Cup final game. Steve Bernier for taking a 5 minute major that pretty much sealed the deal when LA scored 3 goals. And Willie Mitchell, not good enough to play for a Canucks team but apparently good enough to drink bubbly out of Sir Stanley's Mug. I digress, I know its not that simple. Mitchell may have not been able to be affordable under the salary cup etc...
The other neat meaningless factoid.... the last three Stanley Cup winners had to beat the Canucks somewhere in their journey to win. Chicago (beat Canucks 2nd round 2010), Boston (beat Canucks 7th game of 2011 Finals) and Los Angeles (beat Canucks 1st round 2012).
For me it was nice to see Mitchell earn his ring. Liked him as a Canuck and its always nice, IMO, to see BC boys win the Cup.
