Interesting Lions Canucks Fact

Re: Interesting Lions Canucks Fact
Speaking of the Canucks, I thought it was a nice touch to hear from some well-wishing Canuck players — non-Canadians (Sedins and Kesler) who you'd expect to have the least attachment to / recognition of our league, even — on the video board. It seemed to go over pretty well with the crowd.
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

Re: Interesting Lions Canucks Fact
Just coincidence, nothing more. Remember cities hosting the Olympic games in Canada winning the Stanley Cup in the same year ? Montreal and Calgary. We all know how it worked out in 2010 for the Canucks.WRDS wrote:Canucks Lost in 7 Games in 1994 Stanley Cup Finals

Re: Interesting Lions Canucks Fact
There are a lot of folks on this board who love to slag the Canucks mostly I believe out of petty jealousy. Once again tonight the Canucks showed what an absolute class organization they have become. They honoured the Armed Forces and in particular 442 Wing out of Comox who are predominantly into Search and Rescue but with many of their members having spent time in Afghanistan. All through the game instead of having "Fan Cam" they had "Hero Cam" focussing the lens on Armed Forces personnel in attendance. After the game I saw the crew that does the ice scraping during breaks set up a bunch of pylons around centre ice. I hung around to see what that was about. Sure enough all 220 Forces members in attendance marched out to the centre ice area. Moments later all the Canucks skated back out onto the ice to join them and were shaking their hands, chatting, signing autographs and posing for pictures. Totally class.

You're as old as you've ever been and as young as you're ever going to be.
