Know the smallest things and the biggest things, the shallowest things and the deepest things. As if it were a straight road mapped out on the ground ... These things cannot be explained in detail. From one thing, know ten thousand things. When you attain the Way of strategy there will not be one thing you cannot see. You must study hard.

The D was fun to watch tonight. It makes SUCH a difference to have no smurfs in the tertiary and good initial coverage sets up the line for sacks. It was inspiring leadership. Well done D!
I am still concerned about the O line. The backs did a lot of work on their own, perhaps more than they should have. I'd look for some improvement on the line, even if it means using another import. Without better line play, Travis' learning curve is made more challenging.
The receivers look like a very promising unit. Choosing whether to double on Geroy or Arland will prove to be a problem for a few defenders.
It wasn't always a work of art, but it was tough and inspiring.
Well done.

Nice to have a win! Not purrfect, still a long way to go but no negatives tonight! Take away some dropped passes and misses and we could be 4-4 going into the break.
The postives that I see:
1. Has anyone heard JR LaRose's name mentioned much the last two games?? That means he is doing a great job at safety. Good on him.
2. Same goes for Tad Kornegay. I haven't heard his name mentioned much negatively since we got him. Hasn't been beat alot.
3. Chaps play calling with the run on second and short. Let the O-Line drive and give JR the ball.
4. Johnson and Foster. If they can develop, we can have very good recievers in the near future.
5. And the biggest positive is that the RIDERS are offically in last place!!!

Great game tonight.
The only down side is that I think we have seen the last of Paris Jackson in a Lions uniform.

I'd love you to say it to my face because you'd only say it once...if you ever had the courage to say it at all!! Blitz, 05/24/2008

That is a good possibility, at least we know that there is now the changing of the guard in the waiting. Johnson sure is getting a ton of love considering the number of dropped balls I saw from him, hope he finds some sticky hands in the near future to make that speed count for something. Crossing passes are fine, but they tend to get scouted out by the better teams once they have game tape on them.West Coast Blue Fan wrote:Great game tonight.

Good comments. The Lions were a purrfect 4 for 4 on second-and-short situations.swervynmerv wrote:Nice to have a win! Not purrfect, still a long way to go but no negatives tonight! Take away some dropped passes and misses and we could be 4-4 going into the break.

Did anyone see LaRose limping from the bench at the end of the game. Did he get hurt again?

I remember Thelwell overcoming the drops. Sometimes you just have to let guys play up to game speed.Rammer wrote:That is a good possibility, at least we know that there is now the changing of the guard in the waiting. Not hearing LaRose's name mentioned as much means that the 11 other guys on defence are doing their job.

Thelwell's drops were after the catch as IR, not like Johnson who just has trouble running and catching the ball on the fly.Tighthead wrote:I remember Thelwell overcoming the drops. As impressive as the Lions were tonight, it was against a bang up Edmonton squad but we'll take it. Tonight's victory takes the heat off the coaches for 2 weeks.
Re: Lions 36 - Eskimos 1 Post Game Stats and Comments
I was pleasantly surprised. The Lions seem to have overcome what I percieved to be a recent (last 3-4) seasons achilles heel of having the ball run, repeatedly. It was a nice change to see all the sacks, stuffed runs and interceptions. Defence did well. Bruce, Foster and Simon all had good games (hope Simon talked about how WE played well after a win
; cuz he was one of many who did, IMO). Johnson will be fun to watch once he gets those balls put away for catches rather than ohso close catches.
The cynic in me reminds myself this is one game. We are now 2-6. Okay not out of anything but considering the coaching change in Riderland, this has got to keep going. Looking forward to the doubleblue.....
Afterthought, both our kickers from last year Whyte, McCallum are having great years, IMO. This is another choice where right now, I think Wally went the right way.......

That is how I view it, the Lions did what they had to do and I hope that the Lions D can fire like this for the remainder of the season, but not expecting it. Perhaps Wally let go of the reigns on the OC and DC, allowing them to go out under their own terms.TheLionKing wrote:As impressive as the Lions were tonight, it was against a bang up Edmonton squad but we'll take it. I think it also gave a lot of are players confidence and Swagger per say. Showing that they are not as bad as the record indicatesRammer wrote:That is how I view it, the Lions did what they had to do and I hope that the Lions D can fire like this for the remainder of the season, but not expecting it. Hope that they don't let it go to their heads, there is still a long way to securing a playoff game at home.Irishland wrote:I think it also gave a lot of are players confidence and Swagger per say.
