Clearly we weren't successful throwing them all to the wolves, especially with a rookie QB as well. Bruce gives us a legitimate 1-2 punch with Simon that could be solid for the next two or even three years. Meanwhile Gore, Foster, and Ianuzzi can ease their way into a more prominent role.
That is my view, he offers immediate help on the Wr Corps.

Added Kornegay to shore up the secondary and sat Davis Sanchez, which also can only help as DS was abysmal this yr.

Add in Dave Valli is fine, and Cates is out for the Riders.

Re: Trade for Arland Bruce

Hamilton's Coach talked about how Arland and BC would benefit from this deal and he said all parties would benefit. How does Hamilton benefit except the draft picks? If Bruce is the awesome great reciever everyone seems to be thinking he is, why did they only get a 3rd rounder for him? Sounds like, from Hamilton's perspective, IMO, addition by subraction.

I did not like this rumour, its turned out to be true. Simon has the Superhero Seneriority on this football team. I do think Bruce will bring a short term bump but we'll see for a few seasons. Wally obviously wants to win and win now. Hope he's right......

Would it be ironic if Arland Bruce develops a case of the dropsies with the Lions?
What did Blitz say only yesterday about desperate coaches?

That desperate moves usually reveal foolish stupidity? :dizzy:

Hamilton has a bunch of good young rookie receivers who have proven this year that they're ready.

And most of them are saying just that. ;-) Did Avon Cobourne say anything? He had a run-in with Bruce on the sidelines during the opener just as Mike O'Shea did back during the '06 Eastern Final.

In discussion with BMAC on the TEAM radio, Arland Bruce was asked who the better receiver was him or Geroy, he graciously said that it was Geroy who was better. If the two egos can co-exist then it may all work out.

At this rate, Buono will be welcoming back Ray Jacobs to help bolster the pass rush. He can't be more than 40 years old.

Love this trade. Are people forgetting the season he had last year? A 3rd round pick is really inconsequential. There's really no risk for an 0-5 team to bring in a proven star receiver to the mix. Headcase or not, Bruce is still a great receiver in this league.

Our record is the only factor in this equation to be opened armed about this move. Realistically it is good for AB as well, as there really is nowhere to go but up from this point. I wonder if he gets Peterson type numbers thrown to him?

We are 0-5 and our rookie receivers keep dropping the ball. The only question I have is "Why didn't Wally make this trade sooner?".

Re: Trade for Arland Bruce

Our receiving corps just got shorter and significantly older. :dizzy: Desperation time to Wally. They should be calling us the Retreaded Lions. :bang:

I have been an outspoken critic of Wally this year. But it appears he's wearing recent failures like gum on a shoe. No matter what he does, he can't shake harsh and unrelenting criticism. There's a poll right now on CFL.ca, "Is the acquisition of Bruce a good move or a bad move for the Lions?" 95% of posters responded with "Good." Yet if you were to conduct that same poll on Lionbackers, I'll bet it would be the reverse.

Wally could go out tomorrow and obtain Anthony Calvillo for futures, and still many here would be complaining, "....but he's going to impede Travis's development."
