That's a tough break for a special teamer who was one of the stars at training camp last year and was looking for a role in the offence.

Crap. I wonder if this will now impact the coaches' designs on an all-Canadian backfield (Messam, Harris / Lumbala ) so we can play an import at Safety? Unless Lee can take that spot (but he's still re-habbing a knee injury)?

What a weird sounding injury.

VANCOUVER — A training injury to Andrew Harris will likely keep the B.C. Lions running back/kick returner from starting the 2011 Canadian Football League regular season.
Lions medical trainer Bill Reichelt said Harris sustained the injury during a weightlifting session last week in Winnipeg. He underwent surgery from a Winnipeg practitioner and is expected to be on the mend from between three and four months.
"I don't know what the extent of the injury was or what exactly what procedure was used to repair it," said Reichelt, who was vacationing in Mexico last week when Harris contacted him about the injury. "Just where the tear was - and whether it was a complete tear or a partial tear - we don't know at this point. But we're right to think he could be gone from three to four months."
Lions orthopedic surgeon Dr. Bob McCormack is expected to monitor Harris's progress during his convalescence. The Lions lost defensive tackle Aaron Hunt for several weeks with a similar injury last season.
"From the sounds of it, Andrew will miss the start of the season but not all of it," Reichelt said.
Lions open training camp June 5 in Kamloops. B.C. plays its first regular-season game, June 30, in Montreal.
