The Lions have playoff race issues; that's all that concerns me. Just win for Chrissakes. 6 games.

The words coming from the Lions without attribution and with the name of the author linked to it are indicative of problems of leadership from the coaches. Teams that are mostly together (nothing is purrfect with that many on a team) don't talk like these guy are in public.Rammer wrote:Don't you think that Angus colours his words with the media? He does the dance that all players do, but not so much when the player isn't a Lion any longer. Why didn't he speak about the Printers problems earlier?Lion Guy wrote:Abso - friggin - lutely.Lionheart wrote:I don't think we're not winning because of the statements made, I think we're not winning because of the truth of the statements themselves.
The truth hurts. With all due respect to those here; I will take what Angus has to say in the media long before I take what anyone here has to say about the same situation.
Those that think they are " in the know " are just the same as the rest of us.
Casey is not a saint but neither is he as bad as the media made him out to be or as bad as some fans suggest he was. I thought many last year were too high on Casey when he came back! Now they are too harsh. Fans got played by Wally and the media guys did too. No Casey is not a media guy's best buddy as he is too much with the cliches which makes for bad copy. His tirade with Wilson didn't look completely out of control where either had to be restrained. Casey did not break his jaw (look at how Wally dismissed Jackson's jaw with his boys will be boys comment) nor did he slap him with his purse. No punches.
The Lions are showing how media spin works. No member of the media did more than look a bit askance at Messam - Jackson fighting in the dressing room. No called Wally out on it but some fans who saw this indicative of some deeper problems.
I see in the papers that Angus Reid deleted tweeters about Printers.

I didn't say that the offence was good last night. It wasn't. We couldn't run the ball. All we had was Lulay scrambles and passes.Blue In BC wrote:I don't know about that. The Lions had a long late game drive to score a TD ( 80 yards ? ) including a big 2nd and 30 yards from their own end.Gerry wrote:He's right. That was the best performance by a Lion's QB this season. Easily, IMO.potbelly wrote: Your funny... yet another confused person. May want to pay attention to the games and the stats a little more when watching football games. When Lulay accomplish anything close to what printers has accomplished to this point. Then you may have something to talk about. Until then...
The coaches, D, and lack of a run game cost us the game.
Prior to that, they had a bunch of short passes, few 1st downs and were dominated in the TOP. Aside from Lulay, the run game was not existent and they had only scored 15 points in the first 57 minutes of the game. Robertson was 7 carries for 6 yards was had the highest number of receptions on the team.
So while they had high a high completion rate, the offense was anemic. Even if the defense got the Esks off the field more often, if this is the best the offense can do, that's not good.
EDIT: To be fair to Lulay, he is getting better with every start. He makes smart decisions and is a fierce player. Good QB's tend to be somewhat conservative in their play selection and execution as they progressively develop their skills. Better to do that than a turnover machine that loses the game.
But I stand by my statement that that was the best performance by a Lion's QB this season, and I think that he will only get better.
Enough is enough.

Printers had a game this season where he threw for 337 yrads, while under heavy pressure from a very makeshift line at the time, and also while playing injured. Lulay improved last game and showed poise in the final 3 minutes, after struggling for most of the second half (Lulay has also benefited from an offensive line that is more cohesive and we're also using a back on swing passes more often). However, it was not our best quarterback performance of the season.
Hopefully Travis will put together our best quarterback performance of the season against Calgary tomorrow night. We'll need a strong offence to beat Calgary.

Lulay hasn't been the problem, but as a starter since Casey got benched he's been 1-2 and has had extended problems in at least a complete half of every game he's played where he hasn't been able to put up points.
And when you count Printers' wins "as a starter", you happily chalk up the Calgary game in which he did his best to fumble away the excellent field position that Davis gave him to work with before he was rightfully yanked. If a QB is to be credited with a win there, it should be Lulay.
But, I know, you're so emotionally invested in Printers that you can't help but see only what you want, and will do your best to skew the facts.

Skewing the facts is definitely something pauser is very good at . He's been doing that for years now . And he'll keep quoting that loss as something Lulay is responsible for even though Lulay left the game with a big lead .

I really think we need to move on here. My biggest fear is that we'll be micro-analyzing Travis from here on in (well, some anyway), speculating 'what Casey might have done.' It's done. Over. I wish Casey nothing but the best and a speedy recovery from his knee surgery. Sorry to see him go, but we can't keep looking back. We need to understand that, rightly or wrongly, Travis is the man now and let him grow as a quarterback and lead this team (hopefully to a playoff spot
). There will be mistakes along the way to be sure - he's still quite young and learning all the nuances of the CFL game. But it's time to let it go people!
Do you realize that the last 6 and 1/2 pages of this supposed "Post Game Stats and Comments" thread is really just a Casey vs Travis pissing contest?

OMG, REEELAX, DH! You obviously didn't get a chance to read the "Where will Casey end up?" posts where majority of the members voted "flippin burgers". I was just poking fun using that comment. Take a chill pill. No one's trying to disrespect anybody...

Well, if CP was constantly "micro-analyzed" (by some), then why in the hell shouldn't Lulay be under the EXACT SAME microscope? Give him a pass just because he's only in his second season? Fact is, Lulay has been on the Lions for over a year (2 seasons) now, he SHOULD be better. Before that he was in NFL Europe (Berlin Thunder), and had stints with the Seahawks and Saints, so it's not like he has/had no pro experience at all when he got here.David wrote:I really think we need to move on here. Calling him a rookie is a misnomer IMO...he may have been a rookie in the CFL in 09 when he arrived, but he is not a rookie football player by a long shot, and he should be judged by the same standards as CP was judged, considering CP only had 2 seasons before going down south and holding a clipboard (when he was lucky) for two seasons. His one season with the Ti-Cats was horrible, but, the entire Ti-Cats org was horrible at the time, and no one could have helped that team win.
IMO, CP was raised to such great heights by the media, and many fans, and he couldn't do anything other than fall short of expectations. With Lulay, expectations are much lower, so people don't get down on him when he screws up in the same way that CP did...rather, excuses are made for him.

Thepauser has not been on this site "for years" so pennw give it a rest with these personal attacks calling others liars and now saying someone is out to "skew the facts" which is just more of the same personal attacking to ruin a posters rep on these boards.pennw wrote:Gerry wrote:As a starter Lulay has been 1 and 2 since Printers was benched, eh? Why do this just to prove your point? Make your points but leave out the personal attacks on the character of posters here. These boards won't exist without diversity of views. These are just our opinions and views. No one is calling you a liar.
