depth has nothing to do with ray getting all of those yards, that's just no containment. How long did we have to wait until that was fixed? 3rd quarter?

Our run defense was terrible tonight, there is something horribly wrong when Ricky Ray has over 100 yards rushing. 100 YARDS RUSHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cmon, if we don't shape up NOW, that almost guaranteed playoff spot is nil, and we won't get in the playoffs. We have to win 2/3 to get into the playoffs and we have @Calgary, home vs Saskatchewan, who we've been blown out in both games with, and @Hamilton. If we don't make the playoffs, we need to make these changes: Fire Wally, fire chappy, fire dorazio, hire Dave Richie and either put him in at Head Coach or appoint him to DC and promote Benevides. It makes me sad to be a lions fan this year :( We gotta get our stuff together and come to play 60 minutes or this is going to be a long offseason :( And the only saving grace for us is that the Esks play the Riders twice in the next 3 weeks, and they might eliminate them from the playoffs for us
Lastly the Bombers have Montreal,Toronto,Edmonton, and Calgary to finish the season. Lulay is getting us there, but he can only do so much. We need to stop the run, especially against Joffry Reynolds and Jon Cornish. No turnovers this game, and a clutch 2 minute drill are good for us, but its hard to win on a short week, especially with the injuries on our dline, and in our secondary :(

Further proof that the QB is NOT the problem. The Lions problems go way deeper. Printers is somewhere out there laughing is ass off and so he should.prj wrote:What an amazingly inept team! Can't run the ball ... can't pass ... can't tackle ... can't even register the starting roster properly. Still wondering how it's possible for Ricky Ray to go 12/135 rushing. Before this game did he even have 100 total career rushing yards? And then on top of that they allow ANOTHER 170 on the ground to a guy who had all of 56 yards for the year. And this is after losing 2 of their top 3 WRs. And Armstrong doesn't even count - - Buono cut him so there's no way he can play, right? They had nobody other than Stamps to catch the ball, and yet BC still gives up almost 4 bills on the ground.
On the positive side, Lulay looked better than I expected but if he keeps running like he did tonight he's going to become the next Buck Pierce - - great to scramble and pick up the first down, but Lulay's a concussion/injury waiting to happen. But he played well enough tonight that there was no excuse for BC not to win at home against a beat up Edmonton team.
There was no player who lost the game for BC tonight - - this one has to be entirely on Buono and his clipboard buddies. Inexcuseable to keep allowing 10+ yards per carry - - even in the 5thQ Edmonton was still gashing the defence with huge runs.
I think it was about 5 weeks ago that I suggested Buono might want to dress more than just 4 D Linemen. I realize that Craigs guy is abysmal, but is he so terrible that he couldn't even come in for a few plays just to give the other 4 DL a chance to catch their wind?
Or is Buono trying to prove some sort of point that he can win with just 4 D Linemen on the roster?
Will be interesting to hear Buono's explanation of which player didn't execute the line up card properly and caused the McCallum embarassment.

Lulay after the game ...
He sounds like Buck Pierce. Team guy. Excited when he talks. To me he is like a mixture of Dave Dickenson and Buck Pierce. And those are good guys for role models.
I thought he played well. Composed. Ran well. Protected the ball. Made some passes.

Yes. It was weird.JohnHenry wrote: Hard to figure why the run defence was so poor. Have to see the film. Wally said the LB's were "over-pursuing". Looked like the DL were running away from the ball carriers, only concerned about rushing the passer.
The ends just closed down hard inside. No outside coverage by LBs. You could see the LBs talking pre-snap trying to figure out how to cover it. Head shaker. We had no adjustment for it.
346 yards given up on the ground, according to Lalji.

Well, PM not being active turned out to not really matter in the play on the field, pJax had one punt and did okay with it.
What has me concerned is the laxness that led to PmC not being on the lineup card, on the field it did not matter, but if such a detail is overlooked, what other details are being overlooked?
Imo, this game looked like BC was simply outcoached from top to bottom, the players tried their level best to overcome that but when Defenders are 3 yds into the backfield on a short yardage play, and doing so consistently, something is very wrong.

Know the smallest things and the biggest things, the shallowest things and the deepest things. As if it were a straight road mapped out on the ground ... These things cannot be explained in detail. From one thing, know ten thousand things. When you attain the Way of strategy there will not be one thing you cannot see. You must study hard.

I also have to say that the refs were very frustrating. Not putting the blame for the loss on them, but those were some brutal calls. Game changing calls that were wrong. And how about the ref calling it first down for Edm after the Lions clearly recovered a fumble. Just looks bush.

Since it was established here that Buono was in complete control of all things BC football, the only explanation is that he must be garbage at making decisions.
Is it just me or is anyone else getting the feeling that Keron Williams has no business playing DE - - especially not wide side end.

see thread...
need a rush end badly.. (but not a non-explosive, undersized one like foney.. er, foley)
-Believes in building from the trenches outwards. A great O-Line and D-Line guarantees an above average team.

On an unrelated note, it was nice to see Marsh manage to get through a game without being burned for a TD.

Did Angus Reid back up his big talk tonight?
Did Reid lead his O line with a Lions explosive running game and overall offense?
Or was he just as offensive as Casey finds his comments about him?
Or was Angus (who I have always admired until this lil outburst) a late scratch due to overuse of his vocal cords?
Judging from the stats he did more talking this week than performing. Memo to Angus: let your playing do the talking from here on!
I will have to see the game as I only had the radio today.

I was referring to your claim about Ricky being "non explosive".korey&dante4ever wrote:soooo, i agreed with you.. aaaand you say that... oookayArea51 wrote:That may be some of the worst analysis I've read here.
Strange that you'd say Ricky's not a rush end that BC needs - - and yet there was absolute outrage in BC when everyone relaized he wasn't coming back. You don't need/want him in BC, but fans are upset that he's gone?
I say Buono's no longer the coach/GM that BC needs, and I don't care how he leaves - - he could have walked across the field tonight in mid game and joined the Eskimos staff and I would have said it's the best thing that could happen to BC...if a player/coach is hurting the team it doesn't matter HOW he leaves, just that he DOES.
