Pretty much the ballgame right there, losing the penalty battle like that.

That and a 4-1 turnover differential.

Just an idle thought here, but somewhere around your third Objectionable Conduct/Unnecessary Roughness penalty, maybe the Ref's should think about tossing you. How does Hefney get three URs and an OC and not get tossed?

It's like my dad taught me when I was playing sports growing up, you will always get caught if you retaliate.

-Mitchell wouldn't have punched the guy had the chop block been called. Someone tried to take out his knees and end his season and he lost his cool. While I don't condone his actions, I certainly understand them.

-Sanchez wouldn't have blown his top had the Bomber receiver been called for taunting, which it clearly was. If you score a touchdown, go celebrate, don't go stand over the defender you just beat. Davis was trying to stand up for his defensive partners, but obviously took it too far.

Then you add on Franks' headbutt, Davis' celebration, etc. Seems like we have a team full of individuals that lose focus far too easily and are more interested in celebrating individual accomplishment rather than remaining focused for a full 60 minutes.

I don't think the Bomber chopped blocked Mitchell. He appeared to be knocked down by another player into Mitchell. Either way, there is not justification for Mitchell punching a player.

Sanchez deserves every penalty he gets. He's a dirty player known of late hits and being generally not much of a sportsman. We don't know what Edwards said to him but Sanchez went ballistic. As a vet he's supposed to know better.

Essentially if teams don't like players celebrations after scoring, then stop them from scoring. I've seen some Lions go over the top as well.

What did you think of Davis when he was taunting the Bombers after his punt return TD by celebrating in the Bomber airplane?

Add that to Sanchez taunting the fans earlier and the Lions got what they asked for if the Bombers started taunting them back.

Re: Lions 15 penalties - Bombers 9 penalties

It was the third time the Lions had given away a game this year and it was one of the biggest collapses of Buono's stay. It occurred because a team whose coach mandates its players to be self-motivated and disciplined took 12 of the final 14 penalties and a season-high 20 overall.
It's all on the players, of course. The coaches are not out there between the white lines.

At some point, it seems to me, it is on the coaches, unless you have a very strong shield. Wally's record, the respect he has in the community, and the loyalty of David Braley gives Wally that shield, without which he would be under very intense heat.

As does Terrence Edwards, as dirty a player as they come. Perhaps Sanchez was provoked, perhaps not, but Edwards and his little dirt buddy Carr will soon be seeing some extra attention at the bottom of some piles I am willing to wager.

Good on the Bombers for a great comeback; lord knows they need something to keep them going, given how the "faithful" in Winnipeg boo their team at the earliest possible opportunity. I could not believe the negativity there when I sat in Canad Inns last August.

I am starting to believe Rider fans in what they say about Bomber fans. Looks like they may be right.

You're kidding right? Edwards is a dirty player and Carr is a little dirt buddy?

WOW. How many players has Edwards injured by late hits?

Dirty Sanchez, seems like he has no respect for anybody but himself, and he's pretty much the only DB in the league that consistently puts his helmet or shoulder pad to the knee when tackling.

Same guy who donated his cheque to the Tony Proudfoot foundation

Same guy who stopped Korey Banks from gloating over Romby Bryant when Sanchez's clean hit knocked him unconscious.

Sanchez was standing up for a team mate after what he thought was Edwards spiking Reddick. IMHO, the officials could have simply called offsetting penalties....and should have. Edwards was just as guilty of beaking off.

Sanchez is a baller and can play. I would take him on my team any day of the week. Phillips and Crawford could certainly learn how to tackle by watching Sanchez play the game. He plays hard every down and is outstanding in the community.
I'd love you to say it to my face because you'd only say it once...if you ever had the courage to say it at all!! Blitz, 05/24/2008

Not at all. I've watched the game DVD and the PVR version 3 times each now. Show me that Sanchez has done that in a Lions uniform and I will concede the point. Oh and Hefney was a sweetie all day wasn't he? 3 rough plays and an oc?

Edwards went berserk on Banks, and that's what Sanchez reacted to. Go look for yourself. Then look at how your other players got away with poop in the heat of the moment.

It takes two to tango.

Were I you, I'd be more worried about how your team does against Montreal on Sunday ;)
