I think we're all forgetting that TSN calls the tune as to when the games are. I'm sure the Lions would like to have weekend afternoon games, but that won't likely happen, what with Montreal and Saskatchewan pretty much having those sewn up.

I think we're all forgetting that TSN calls the tune as to when the games are. I'm sure the Lions would like to have weekend afternoon games, but that won't likely happen, what with Montreal and Saskatchewan pretty much having those sewn up.

I think it''s widely recognized that one-third of CFL games are played on Friday night. If one-third of Lions games must be scheduled on Fridays to fulfil the Friday Night Football commitment, I can accept it. But TSN has a need for programming on other days, which is why they schedule Thursday night games (hello Edmonton) in addition to Saturday and Sunday games, which have always formed a major part of the schedule.

The Lions have hosted more than their share of Friday night games in recent years, over the objections of fans:
2005 - 5
2006 - 6
2007 - 3
2008 - 6
2007 - 7

The Lions hope to return next year to their roots at the site of Empire Stadium, where they used to play at 8 p.m. on Saturdays. I'd love to see that tradition return.
