The Retro Uniforms -- I Just Love Them

Is it just me, or does everyone else think that the 2009 (60'S) retro uniforms are great? Perhaps it is remembering the glory days of the team, but I think these color combinations are close to the best in club history. I particularly love the helmets.

This brings up the topic of what is the all time best combination for a uniform. Here's mine:

1) The 2009 (60's) retro helmet with the orange paw and colored strips down the middle; married with,

2) The current third black jerseys and pants.

Replace the orange helmets with the black ones on the third jersey and pants and you have a winner in my opinion.

Thoughts?

By the way, the 2009 Edmonton retro uniforms are really, really, ugly.

Just about the sharpest uni in pro football AFAIC.

I thought the Eskimos uniforms looked by far better than their current sets, at least it was green and gold. There helmet colour was awesome, in fact the more I saw of the Esks uniforms on the grass the better it got. ;)
Entertainment value = an all time low

Best. Uniforms. Ever. :cheer:

No quibbles whatsoever, but I think they may look even sweeter with the snarling lion on their helmets - a look they wore from '67 - '77:

Those helmets were superb, and the jerseys were gorgeous, even with the corporate logos on them.

Reebok, please note how sweet they look WITHOUT that piping.

Great helmet but remind me how well the team did on the field in those days?

Unfortunately not too good. Made their first appearance in the Grey Cup and lost to Hamilton in 1963. Made it back to the Grey Cup in 1964 and won it over Hamilton. Failed to make the playoffs in 1965

totally agree - the Lions retros looked awesome!

Gotta agree with Rammer that the more I saw the Esk's retros, the more I liked them.

Hoping that the Riders are going to wear their white retro jerseys tomorrow. Best. Rider. Jersey. Ever. The green ones are cool but I LOVE the whites.

Liked the unis but missed not having player's names on their backs, especially when it comes to new players and Eskimos whose numbers/names are not as familiar. And the TV commentators need better spotters, eg. "number 72 made a nice play".

I would like to see the black helmets and pants are great! Like that road look better than white helmets and orange pants.

Re: The Retro Uniforms -- I Just Love Them

This is the home version of the same uniform that (unfortunately) we won't get to see - only the 'retro inspired' alternate (3rd) jersey.

Basically just the road uni reversed. Black jersey with white numbers + orange TV stripe on the shoulders. White pants with orange-black-orange stripe down the leg. Orange and white striped socks.

Those could be the home uniforms of the Lions next season! Just make the facemasks orange, and player names on the back of the jerseys. Black home jersey with white numbers and orange sleeves. Away white jerseys with black numbers and orange sleeves. Save the 1977 look for the new dome when it is done in 2011!
