Well I for one can't WAIT to see this guy!! It will will be a very long winter but this will give me hope come spring; to know that we get to witness the coming-out of this guy. Awesome!!!!

Didn't Ryan Leaf just get fired for trying to give his players pain pills?

Other way around if the story is true. He's been placed on indefinite leave at his own request. Apparently he wasn't giving pills but rather asked a player for a pill to help deal with wrist pain from old NFL injuries. I would assume it must be prescribed medication. It wouldn't be a big deal if it was over the counter stuff. I'm guessing he may have an addiction to painkiller problem to deal with. While not a good thing it is nonetheless not uncommon in sports.

I started this post. Funny how stories get changed and spread. Most everyone on here is one. Im a new fan of the CFL, live in Chicago and Phoenix. Fan of West Texas Football etc.

Ryan Leaf... he was a good QB coach. Better than he played in NFL.

He didnt get fired last week he resigned from WEst Texas . He wasnt giving players pain killers he asked a player for one of his pills the training staff had given him for pain for Leaf still has pain in the wrist from NFL days. Player didnt give it to him , player said something to him Mom about it and the Mom called West Texas administration and said do something about it or I will. Needless to say Leaf had to resign all over a pain pill. He has his millions from signing with NFL. You would think he could buy one.
He was also the golf coach. A job he took on as a favor to WT without a salary.

Leaf coached Bell who was drafted by Carolina and cut in last cut after 4th preseason game last year and picked up by Green Bay. Green Bay cut him before all the qb changes there. Seattle picked him up and kept him until the final cut after 4th preseason game before they knew 2 of their QBs would be hurt. He is actually pretty good. Just needs to play. Diamond in the rough like Kurt Warner was.

Regina Riders originally drafted him out of college in 2007 and had rights to him.

Anyway this year Leaf coached another good D2 QB. He is number one or 2 in D2 and West Texas is in playoffs starting this Saturday so he will probably get drafted as well this year.
Next years QB tutored by Leaf is also very good.

D2 is good place for a good QB to actually get to play instead of sitting on bench.

So everyone got it. Leaf is not golf coach in Arizona.

They mattered a little more as I actually care about the Lions and Bombers.

Bell was never drafted by Regina/Saskatchewan or by Carolina.

You say the new guy will get drafted "as well" - do you mean just like Dalton Bell, myself, firstdown45 and yourself were?

He could very well be Tee Martin, v2.0

Martin was a high draft choice of the Pittsburgh Steelers, hung around NFL Europe for a couple years, then was a complete bust with the Bombers.

For the poster who mentioned Bell was coached by Ryan Leaf, that isn't exactly a glowing endorsement.

Bell's already moved up a spot on the depth chart. The Riders released Bishop today. Durant's contract is up too but I expect they will try to re-sign him.

I've seen other "silly" people say Regina Roughriders, and I wonder, who the hell are they? Obviously these people know nothing about CFL football.
