For Bell's sake, I hope that Leaf is a better coach than a QB.

I thought that Ryan Leaf was a golf coach at Arizona State? I read it in SI a few months back when he did an interview with Dan Patrick. He said that he has given up on football entirely.

Re: Dalton Bell new qb for Regina Riders
Leaf was golf and QB coach at West Texas A&M.
He is on leave as he may have an issue with painkillers. I remember when he was with Dallas, he had to pound his wrist against his thigh after several throws as it would constantly dislocate.
He was a pro washout, and pretty immature, but a great college QB.

Riders already have 2 1/2 decent QBs. Not sure they need another as much as some other teams do. Tell him to try Toronto.

Re: Dalton Bell new qb for Regina Riders
I recall reading some about Bell a while back. Seems to me his neg list rights were part of a Rider trade. Can't remember if it was part of the Joseph deal or an earlier one. WT A&M is a Div II school. The stuff I read at the time indicated he could be a decent prospect more suitable for the CFL game.tascosa1 wrote:Im a West Texas A&M grad. He is with the Riders already, signed a few weeks ago. He must be getting the extra practice for the 09 TC.Hambone wrote:I recall reading some about Bell a while back. Re: Dalton Bell new qb for Regina Riders
Didn't Ryan Leaf just get fired for trying to give his players pain pills?

Re: Dalton Bell new qb for Regina Riders
Other way around if the story is true. He's been placed on indefinite leave at his own request. Apparently he wasn't giving pills but rather asked a player for a pill to help deal with wrist pain from old NFL injuries. I would assume it must be prescribed medication. It wouldn't be a big deal if it was over the counter stuff. I'm guessing he may have an addiction to painkiller problem to deal with. While not a good thing it is nonetheless not uncommon in sports.DonVitoD wrote:Didn't Ryan Leaf just get fired for trying to give his players pain pills?

Interesting. This isn't me, BTW. I just find it odd that someone posted this after I posted something similar in another thread.tascosa1 wrote:Im a West Texas A&M grad. Dalton Bell will be the future QB for Regina.

I did find out how long he's been on the Riders radar - since Feb '07 as part of the Butler / Flick trade...
Riders get - OL - Wayne Smith
R - DJ Flick
2nd round pick
neg rights to Dalton Bell (QB)
Ti-Cats get - QB - Rocky Butler
2nd & 5th round picks
neg rights to Bret Meyer (QB)
