In this Rider fan's mind, this puts to rest the whole "artificial noise" debate.
As I said, innocent until proven guilty - the Lions were proved innocent tonight
I will defend the Lions organization and their fans - NO CANNED NOISE!
Well done, Lions fans, for putting up with the sh*t for so long and not climbing into a bell tower with a high powered rifle...
You know, I noticed something interesting...
I was up in Level 4 (upper deck) talking to a friend while the teams were doing their pre-game warm-ups, and a fraction of the seats around the stadium were populated. When the Lions left the field, the cheer that went up seemed incredibly loud for the small numbers in there, and seemed to come from everywhere, especially from the roof.
When I was at my regular seat on Level 2 later, even with 50,000+ going nuts on the defense, it didn't seem as loud - I mean, there was lots of noise I could hear right around me, but the "ambient" noise was nowhere near as all-encompassing as when I was on the upper deck, with the roof and all that concrete gathering the sound and concentrating it.
I can see where people might get the mistaken idea that extra "crowd noise" was pumping out of the speakers, because all the sound seemed to emanate down from the roof. But as we've covered, the acoustics in this kind of building can be tricky.
