Thats a good point, although I think the standard for winning a libel suit is much higher for an entity or individual in the public eye, as opposed to your average private individual.Soundy wrote:One is tempted to wonder how many blatant accusations like this can continue to be put in print/on the air before a libel suit is filed...Luke wrote:And, the "canned noise" euphoria reaches the mainstream...wow. I thought that Saskatchewan people had more confidence in their team than this.
The best part is when Brendan talks about last year's noise level, and how it almost sounded unnatural.

Not all of us - as far as I'm concerned, if the CFL says there's no canned noise at BC Place, there's no canned noise at BC Place. End of story.
League officals have nothing to gain from lying to the fans and all the teams.
Thanks for coming... I wonder if Black has an assistant to deal with all the mail he must get from Rider fans...George Black wrote:As I’m sure you understand, we cannot penalize a rumour.
We do have a policy re electronic noise and it states that the home team PA, video board and PA announcer(s) must stop when the offense breaks the huddle.
That we can monitor, and we do.

Have you even bothered to read the rest of my posts? I'm on your side, man! There was quite a time lapse between my original email to Black and the reply you quote above. I've even been trying to quell this sh** over on RF.com. http://www.riderfans.com/forum/showthread.php?t=53509 see post #23.OrangeShoes99 wrote:Vern Halen wrote:^^^

I'm leaving this up to the league - the evidence or lack thereof will play out on Sunday. Whatever the league decides will be my final answer as well.

We gotta stop burning Vern Halen. He's been one of the sane Riderfans. I regret posting the link from RF.com

Thats admirable of you, although I think most fans have made up their minds on this one. It'll never matter that nobody has presented any credible evidence that would incriminate the Lions on this, or that the Lions weren't penalized at all this year for that particular infraction, or anything else.
People will choose to believe what they want to believe. I think its wrong for people of some influence like Carm Carteri, and Rod Pedersen to push this so hard in the media. I know they don't actually work for the Riders, but they're so closely associated with the Riders, that it might as well be coming from the Riders themselves.

I hear what your saying, but the stuff that Pederson and Carteri say should be taken with the same amount of salt as when Bryan Hall talks about the Eskimoes...
Yeah, but I think it reflects poorly on them, as it does Bryan Hall. I hope Rick Ball and Giulio Caravatta don't do the same. The stories of Carteri trying to break into the control room at BC Place...what kind of respectable broadcaster does that? Rod Pedersen asking Riders questions about piped-in crowd noise as if it were fact, even though its not. These things don't reflect well on them, and I think it really hurts their credibility, even if most Rider fans agree with whats being said.

Can't disagree - don't forget they're stirring the pot to get more listeners involved and listening to the broadcast.Luke wrote:Yeah, but I think it reflects poorly on them, as it does Bryan Hall. Old radio trick. Controversy = listeners.
If this was being pushed by Drew Remenda and Mitchell Blair on Rawlco Radio, I would be more accepting of that, but its not. Its being pushed by people who are seen as representatives of the Riders.Vern Halen wrote:Can't disagree - don't forget they're stirring the pot to get more listeners involved and listening to the broadcast.Luke wrote:Yeah, but I think it reflects poorly on them, as it does Bryan Hall. They have nothing else to talk about so they gotta continue this rumor as Saskatchewan can be pretty boring if you didn't know.Luke wrote:Yeah, but I think it reflects poorly on them, as it does Bryan Hall. Dan, I live in Saskatchewan. I've got a pretty good idea.Dan Russell wrote:They have nothing else to talk about so they gotta continue this rumor as Saskatchewan can be pretty boring if you didn't know.Luke wrote:Yeah, but I think it reflects poorly on them, as it does Bryan Hall.
