I personally love the fact you hate us this much. From where I stand, the 2 teams that should be in the west final are there. Riders will be ready. They will be ready for the noise, natural, artificial, a combination, crickets, whatever you guys wanna throw at us. Kent has been in these situations before and knows tactics on how to deal with no audibility. He guided a Toronto offense to score over 50 points in the Big O in Montreal he can guide KJ and the Rider offense in BC Place.

This is a different team then in past years. This team can win in your park just as you guys can win in ours. They will be ready to play, if your boys aren't it will be a long day for the Leos. IT is going to be a great game. And if anyone expects a Rider team in any way resembling the ones seen in the last couple years, you are going to be sorely mistaken.

You guys very well might win this game.. But it will not be easy. It will be a nail biter. The Riders are coming, their fans will be there. You will hate us, and we relish that fact. Being hated is great. You hate our cockiness, you hate our passion, you hate the fact we have fans at every stadium in this league(especially in the west), you hate the fact we are the best fans in this league. You hate everything there is to hate and more about us and our team, our province and our people.

For that I say thank you, it makes this game that much more intense, and the rivalry that much more exciting.

Bring it on
Sunday can not come fast enough!
And this is where you are wrong grasshopper. Lions fans don't hate anyone. Quite to the contrary; Lions fans are a fairly accomodating, tolerant bunch.

Where the heck do you get off saying we hate your team, province and people? Pretty damn ignorant I would say. Lay off that Jag and Pilsner in the cornflakes til the weekend son.

I agree...until the team goes in the crapper again and the avg. attendance drops to 15K a game again.
Just reality. The Lions are a good team right now. And there is a lot of interest in them. But much like Toronto...if a team isn't winning and winning often...they are often forgotten about and shuffled to the back burner. Reality in a bigger centre? I dunno maybe.
Reality in a city that has an NHL franchise. Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa (when they have a CFL team) all take a back seat to the NHL franchise. Even if they are champions, still takes a back seat to even a losing NHL team.

Lions win the GC, there's "a party at the dome".. if the Canucks ever won the Stanley Cup, the city would shut down for a day, and they'd have a ticker-tape parade.

Very weird how that works.
Has a lot to do with the way hockey is ingrained into the Canadian culture, I would say. Football is popular, but in a lot of Canada, it's not a part of the CULTURE.

Granted, a lot comes down to marketing and the running of the operation as a whole, as D says. But that includes MAKING a sport a part of the popular culture, and that takes time - literally, generations. I saw an article a few years ago about the level to which hockey has expanded in the Dallas area since the Stars came there - from having maybe one or two ice rinks in the entire city (no surprise, in Texas) to there now being numerous minor/junior/bantam/etc. teams and leagues. Hockey is slowly becoming a part of the "culture" in Dallas, but it has taken a generation of kids GROWING UP with hockey for that to happen.

Saskatchewan is like Texas is in the USA....football is to Texas what baseball is to the rest of the country. Baseball still has its place and is a close 2nd but football is #1.

In Sask, football is to the people what hockey is to the rest of Canadians. We still love hockey here to death, but football is football and people live and breathe it here.

I would argue that football is part of Cdn culture, the CFL anyways.

The Grey Cup game is a part of our culture; not the entire CFL though.

That's all personal opinion, depends on what you consider culture, what something needs to represent/signify in order to be grouped in that category.

I'd say that's a pretty accurate take.

Football and baseball are EXTREMELY prevalent from an early age in most US regions - in school, in college, etc. Not so much in Canada. Kids in Canada (and many northern states) grow up with hockey always around them. It's largely a matter of climate - the natural skating surfaces we "enjoy" in the northern winters lend to the prevalence of hockey, while other outdoor sports are hampered by a much shorter "growing season".

That's not to say they aren't or can't be played, just that they don't become as entrenched in people's lives because of it.

I agree. We don't hate Rider fans, or their team. But I am getting sick of primarily Rider fans calling our team dirty etc. on various sites, and an animosity is developing with SOME, but not all Rider fans, especially this year. Check out RF if you don't see my point, go_green.
Enough is enough.

Actually, at RF you probably would've been banned about 20 posts ago, were you posting about the Lions in the same fashion you're posting about the Riders here. LB doesn't seem to share the same insecurities and Green sensitivity RF does. Y'know, what's that word... oh yeah... tolerance.

 They love me over there. Got some pretty "pleasant" PMs, mostly being called a F-Tard, an F-ing idiot, had one guy threaten to jump on a plane and head out here just so that he can slap my nuts off. Nice place, that Riderfans.com, nice place indeed. 8)

We don't ban people here for having opinions that are not the ones of most posters, or certain Mods. Other sites may, or may not have the same policies, but we don't condone knocking other sites either, as their Admins may not be able to rebut any accusations made here.

Hey guys, guess what? This is trolling according to RF
Geez, some of you guys here are really touchy. Pauser makes a couple of tongue-in-cheek remarks and is accused of trolling all the while patting you guys on the back for a great atmosphere during a great game and yet you look right past that and just start pointing your finger at him. Nice. Also, I'm the one who made the comment about "canned noise" in the other thread, again, purely tongue-in-cheek since people from this place have come over the LBers to post the exact same thing, I didn't realize that joking with other CFL fans was trolling. What he said is true, in '04 there was this huge warning that the almighty 'Rider Nation is coming to town and to hide the women and children, and while there was a fair bit of green under the Dome, it came nowhere close to matching the hype that came before it. I hope it's a different story this time though, it makes for a great atmosphere when there's tension in the seats as well as on the field. Is it game time yet?
