An ejection shows lack of restraint and anger issues. was it justified, yes. But a real man would have knocked Braidwood flat on the next play, not engaged in the same tactics. Its shows more character and inner stength to not be selfish, which is exacty what that was, and even the score within the rules.Rammer wrote:
I will wait on the fine, he is going to beat that one. If you are going to suggest his ejection in the Eskimo game was a) warranted or b) without provocation, then you have missed the reasoning factor. That ejection was in retaliation, but it also let Braidwood and Abdullah know that they had better be prepared to answer their calling out, and actions. No problems there on that ejection, that was a mans reaction to a boys challenge.

I have seen many plays where a player gets away with the punch that Murphy tossed, it was more an ejection to calm an eskielating situation IMHO. Had he thought that he would be tossed for it, I am sure that he would have restrained from doing so, much like he did with Chick although I understand he is a diabetic as well, so that may have influenced him.wildthing wrote:An ejection shows lack of restraint and anger issues. was it justified, yes. could be, or maybe he though Rasouli was gone and didn't want the line down 2 guys. But in the end I dunno, unless he goes the same way Gass did, I don't see the fine being lifted. And even then I think an arbitrator may not change it. Wildthing two posts ago in talking about Murphy you stated "An ejection shows lack of restraint and anger issues." "Its shows more character and inner stength to not be selfish," So I guess we can agree that Murphy is reformed and has learned from his mistakes as he restrained himself from pounding Chick.wildthing wrote:could be, or maybe he though Rasouli was gone and didn't want the line down 2 guys. Of course when he had the altercation with Braidwood he was not hurting the BC Lions. The Eskimos were so far done at that time he was just sending a timely message. This game is about intimidation. If you ever played you would surely know. Name me one other offensive lineman that gets talked about before every game by the opposing team, media, and fans? Mr. Murphy is not stupid in anything he does. He is very calculated. He is by far the best offensive lineman in the CFL right now. Will he win the award again? Not a chance, because the voters can not see past their hate to realize that there is no one out there even close to Mr. Murphy. Meanwhile Mr. Murphy will just keep going about his business.
Re: Rob Murphy on Team 1040 this morning
He has an ejection and one (maybe more) fines on the year, so one moment in whcih he actually showed restraint is far from reformed. Its like the convict that is paroled due to good behavior under scrutiny and then after his parole officer reporting is done he goes and commits the same or another crime. Again he has more history of being ejected/fined/penalized than showing restraint so 1 time is not enough to convince me of anything.tedbear wrote:Wildthing two posts ago in talking about Murphy you stated "An ejection shows lack of restraint and anger issues." Re: Rob Murphy on Team 1040 this morning
Showing restraint once is "far from reformed", yet getting one ejection is showing "lack of restraint and anger issues"......hmmm. As for the fine, well that is before the league and I will bet you an avatar for the entire playoffs that he wins his case.wildthing wrote:He has an ejection and one (maybe more) fines on the year, so one moment in whcih he actually showed restraint is far from reformed. In the words of the immortal Pissant Eric Tillman when talking to Rob Murphy earlier this season:
Anyone still got Doug Berry's quote lying around somewhere?
And let's have a listen to Tom Higgins:Eric Tillman wrote:'F--- what everybody else is saying in the
media. I love the way you play. Don't stop. Keep playing that way.'
Tom Higgins wrote: "No, they're not dirty," Higgins says. "They're just very good
football players. They're coached to be tough and aggressive, and I
see absolutely nothing wrong with the two of them."

Now that I don't live in Quesnel do I need to change my handle??

This Regina writer must be getting paid by the Roughriders....
Man it is Friday before their next game and this guy finally catches up with last weeks news.Bob Hughes wrote:It was the decision of the league to slap the Saskatchewan Roughriders' genial general manager Eric The Red with a $1,000 fine for comments he made concerning the blood lines of B.C. Lions head coach Wally Buono.
This comment came in the heat of the most recent devastating loss, this one at the hands of the B.C. Lions, who watched with glee as the Riders snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, about three times in the game actually. Anyway, there was this on-field scuffle which was incited by the dirty B.C. Lions and carried on by the dirty B.C. Lions.
One Lion was tossed from the game, even if it was the wrong Lion. Eric the Red reacted to all of this by saying that a team that plays dirty football is a reflection of its head coach. This, of course, did not go over all that swell with Buono, who has won more games than any other active coach in the CFL.
Why such a comment would warrant a fine is beyond imagination, no matter how hard you try to justify it.
Earlier in the season, Buono had widely criticized the Riders for the hit that defensive end Fred Perry put on quarterback Dave Dickenson, leaving Dickenson with yet another concussion, one that could possibly end his brilliant CFL career. Buono received no fine. So, what's the difference here? There is no difference. Chalk up another one for Wallyball.
Why Eric The Red ever made such a statement, or even went as far as to confront Buono after the loss last Saturday night is altogether another matter. When you lose the way the Riders did, which was the hand a gift-wrapped victory over to the Lions, you should just put your tail between your legs, get ready for the next game, and stay quiet.

Murph vs. Jiminez
I am so sick of hearing all the attention on Rob Murphy. Is he a great player? Absolutely. But the attention on him is far overshadowing Jiminez, who is just as good, if not better as a player than Murph.
Last year, Jiminez had a few unnecessary roughness penalties, and you all attacked him on here and in the media. This year, he hasn't been ejected from any games, has far fewer penalties, and has played extremely well, while Murph gets ejected and fined and you all sing his praises.
Am I happy to have them both? Yup. But do I think Jiminez should be outshadowed by Murph? No way. I won't be surprised at all if Jiminez is back down south soon...
And did anyone else notice that Murph was introduced separately, away from the rest of the oline at the last home game? What was up with that? He's not a qb or a receiver. the online is a unit, and should stay that way. Murph would be nothing without the other 4 guys next to him.
My all star vote goes to Jiminez.
