How far away are you from BC Place?

Amen. It took me 90 minutes to get to the preseason game from Langley and 45 to get home. That eastbound HOV lane over the bridge makes all the difference.cheer_leader wrote:60.5 km, according to Google, an hour drive time!
That might be more accurate if we didn't, in fact, spend
anywhere up to an hour getting across the Port Mann
parking lot!!

I came in from Langley as well for that game, straight after finishing work. Pulled out of Fraser Hwy. and 56th at exactly 6:00... rolled onto the Dunsmuir Viaduct at exactly 7:30.
Took a further half hour to get from there, up Dunsmuir to Hamilton, then two blocks down Hamilton to the Library parking (and 20 minutes of that was just the 3/4-block from Georgia to the parking entrance).
Brutal.

I guess folks like Larry Beasley deserve the credit for long commutes downtown:
"Congestion is our friend."
"We like that it's hard to get in and out of downtown."

Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

Yeah, because they're all at a dead crawl along 1st Ave. and halfway to Richmond down Granville St."There's no better alternative to the car than walking," Beasley said. "We have been doing everything in our power to make walking comfortable. We actually have fewer cars coming into the downtown area than we had 10 years ago."
Thanks, Larry.
