I caught a Versus broadcast of the Anaheim-Detroit series in Vegas on the weekend and the quality of the broadcast blew away any hockey broadcast I've ever seen from Canadian or American TV. They had great camera angles, onscreen graphics and even in-game interviews with the coaches from a reporter stationed on the bench. The game was featured on the biggest of dozens of screens in a casino sports lounge, and there was almost as much hooting and hollering from fans in the casino as there was during the Detroit-Chicago basketball game that preceded it on the big screen.LFITQ wrote:Apparently Versus has been doing quite well in the ratings with it's coverage of the NHL both on the radio and on TV.

For God's sake, don't get me started about Tiddlywinks again!!lion24 wrote:Solar Max wrote:I wouldn't put the NHL in the category of "Top Tier" in the US. NASCAR is actually bigger than all of those, and US College bigger than NASCAR. Add to that the fact that the NHL has no TV contract with a major US Network as all the others you cited do, and it's pretty obvious why the NHL is in some small markets the way it currently is.stansz wrote:ir eally have no problem...
i mean the big 4, NHL NBA NFL MLB is top tier sports
wat does piss me off is those dam american cities that do not deserve an NHL team
It's strictly second rate as far as the US sports fan sees it.like i said in an earlier post Bass Fishing, Nascar, truck and tractor pull and of course everyone's favorite :Tiddlywinks are ahead of NHL in the states.
In debates along the way about the validity of NASCAR being a sport, I have found some information that I can step up my opinion of the drivers, but in the end all I require is a 1 minute rap up of the days race in order to get everything needed from the race. Que the several crashes and the fine ending between the car that took a chance on not pit stopping vs the guy who lost the race because he made a pit stop. Then I guess I just saved myself 3 hours of going around in circles.Solar Max wrote:Ask Rammer about NASCAR. My opinion regarding Motor Vehicles is not for public consumption.
