Possible mascot WDF Show down?

If the Riders win tomorrow then Gainer the Gopher will be coming to BC Place next week, where he will have to contend with Leo and The Captain. Straycat should be brought back for the WDF, so all three mascots can triple team Gainer

Gainer will be here but only doing a hlaf Gainer as the Rider faithful are not going to be in BC Place to the tune they will be in McMahon. Besides it is hibernation time for G.T. Gopher after this weekend.

I have no problems punting that prairie rat from the dome, nor do I have a problem with the Stamps keeping him off the field. Home field advantage is earned, and just because the Riders can't earn a home playoff game doesn't mean they should be allowed to try and make it one.

Petty? Maybe...so sue me.

I don't think the problem is being able to afford a seat or not. I think the issue is him being allowed on the sidelines/bench with the team or not.

Well, I think there could be compromise... Gainer could go on the field so long as he doesn't have any signs in his hands ie. "DEE" "FENCE" to get the Rider fans going.

Someone on the Riders board said the last playoff game Gainer attended was the 2004 WDF vs. Leos.

Which is exactly what he was doing in BC Place two years ago....mind you we kept hearing about 10,000 Riders fans for that game and there was only a sprinkling. There was more for the final game of the season.

Sorry, I don't see why he has a right to be in the visiting teams stadium, especially for a playoff game.

I can see a Grey Cup game in a neutral site.

Gainer vs. Leo is okay. But I would rather see a showdown between the Felions and the Trailblazers.

And their hot tub should be welcome too.

If he wants on the field then the Riders should finish higher in the standings ..... this is the playoffs .... the hosting team in this case the Lions have EARNED home field ADVANTAGE

Why give up any portion of that? ..... Lions fans won't like it ... it won't help the Lions win or sell tickets for next year so why bother.

If it was a regular season game I would be a lot softer on the issue but this is the playoffs with an entire season on the line .... why take any chances?

For example, the Edmonton Eskimos and B.C. Lions both allowed Gainer on their fields when the Roughriders visited during the 2004 playoffs.

Acting on a tip from ace reporter Craven Moorehead, I took a look at the game film from that day in November, 2004.

The Rodent was indeed present, and there were no signs of holes in the old astroturf, so he must have:

a) not been hungry
b) not liked the taste of astro turf
c) been muzzled (didn't look like it though)
d) been counting the times Coach Barrett applauds a bad play by the 'Riders
e) been chased by Leo as a snack.

Inquiring minds need to know.

No worries, if Gainer does come to town Leo and Fin will take him out drinking in Surrey. Once he starts digging tunnels at the border they'll be laughing and he'll be holding up his defense sign in a US court.

Gainer smuggling B.C. 'bud'???? We definitely shouldn't allow him into our province...we get enough 'greening' of our city when the Riders play with the invasion of all their fans..... without Gainer benefitting from our underground economy!!

Thanks for the pics Robbie! Saskatchewan can bring that any day!

I thought that was a bad move by the Stamps to not let the Gopher into McMahon. Talk about giving a team motovation. I'd use that if i was Danny Barrett...and i think why not create more fun (hopefully it wouldn't get out of hand) in the stands...it's a special game...bring the mascots in. Don't be petty. 8)
