Better intensity from the Lions.

Some better defensive play.

Brooks and Minter brought some size and skill to the interior of the DL.

Eric Fraser makes a nice debut.

Some more pressure at the LOS with some feints, et cetera. More guys in the box at times.

Some better tackling.

Offence. Beck looks more comfortable in the pocket than Lulay. Might not have been his fault on the pick.

ST coverage still abysmal.

Any thing can happen in a CFL game. Show up. Play hard, and ya never know.

5 Ints for Leos.

Hard yards for Andrew up the middle. 61.

Just 1 sack on Lions. Way to go, OLine.

Credit to the team for the effort shown. A gut win.

Marsh 15/26 for 93. Not going to win many with those numbers.

Als rushing 17/123. Big improvement for us.

Somewhat close at the end. We will take the win.

Got the win but we didn't play well. Tanner Marsh is just a brutal QB, not sure why they didn't put Bridge in.

Looks like Manny got into the heads of the Als as they took a costly penalty against him which cost them a fumble recovery.

Still lots of work to do.

216 net yards for our offence.

Be proud. Stay hot.
-Believes in building from the trenches outwards. A great O-Line and D-Line guarantees an above average team.
-A coach that has to give a motivational pregame speech is probably a coach that is insecure about his game plan.

DEF played well. Tedford says EXCELLENT. Pauser says "didn't play well" Laughable.

The DEF was up against a QB who wasn't great but to not credit the Lions defensive effort and decision making with 5 INTS is laughable but the pauser keeps entertaining us.

OFF - Beck looked decent early on. 2TDS but clearly as the game wore on he was not effective as his REC. were having trouble getting open.
If you can't get open receivers for decent yards downfield you're not going to spring the CFL's top back in Andrew Harris.

I wish Tedford would speak more specifics as he's articulate but says nothing specific other than next practice times and games.

Clearly talent on the offense with a new QB there was an issue. RECEIVERS as a group suck overall.....

Defence showed up against an inept QB. O line not opening up holes for Harris. Our receivers not running great patterns Burnam ran the wrong route on the pick. Offence should have put up way more points on the turnovers. Leone tough nite on FGoals but Jennings not good on the first hold. Lots of work still to do but maybe a lite at the end of the tunnel.

My comments on the game. A well needed resurgence on the defensive side. Finally some pressure from the D- Line, good tackling and good ball hawking from the DB's. Something we haven't seen this year. Offence struggled but took advantage of turnovers when they needed. Understandable with changes to personell and Beck in. Rainey looked decent on kick returns, coverage looked poor to terrible again. Just wondering why Shaq Murray- Lawrence isn't out more on returns ? For next week they will need to get more production from the offence and the run game. I would like to see Lumbala get the ball more or a two back set with misdirection or Harris following Lumbala at the point of attack.

Instead of being basically eliminated from the playoffs by a loss, this win merely gives us a big hill to climb to get into the post-season. At 4-5 we have for the time being held off for the 3W berth both Mtl (4-6) and Wpg who at 3-6 right now can't leap over us even with a win in Ssk on Sun what with our holding a game-in-hand over them.

It's a big hill because of our nine games remaining, six of these come against what are clearly the league's top four teams in Cgy, Edm, Tor, Ham. Does anyone think we would have beaten any of those opponents with that effort tonight?
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

No. 18 years in the postseason... Does it end this year? I hope not but looks grim.

Huge improvement by the defensive line tonight with Minter being a significant upgrade on Roh.

Biggest concern by far was how much Beck seemed to regress as the game went on. Should be total opposite scenario as a back up. No doubt stale play calling didn't help either.

All in all, a badly needed win for the franchise.

I agree. I can't recall seeing a missed tackle, and I loved the way the defence swarmed to the football.
Except for a couple of long runs in the first half, the Alouettes were not able to run the ball effectively.

Beck threw two interceptions, and the second one looked to be his fault. He was scrambling and appeared to overthrow the receiver.

That's a little harsh IMO. Logan is a shifty character who has the ability to squirt through the smallest of seams.
I thought the B.C. coverage team did a better job of preventing him from getting the sideline than they did in the
previous game.

OK, but their run blocking is just not good enough, and for the second time this season they weren't able to
push the defensive line back two inches on third down. And what was it with all the illegal procedure penalties?

Our Leos key to this win in Montreal can be read in six letters -Minter.

With Minter inserted at nose tackle for Roh, it forced the Montreal line to double team Minter and allowed Brooks to beat single team blocking. When we had Roh at tackle, Brooks was double teamed and Roh was blown out with single team blocking against the run.

What a difference one personell change made. We only gave up one big run inside. We forced Montreal to run outside. We also got inside penetration from the tackle position. That forced Montreal to make a lot of quick throws. It allowed our defensive backs to play tighter and anticipate. It forced bad throws and we took advantage because we really do have ball hawks in our secondary but they have been forced to play passively due to our inept pass rush in the past this season.

Fraser got a key pick and a touchdown, which was also gratifying. One may ask why it took so long to make obvious changes. Well, if our coaches read Lionbackers and weren't so stubborn they would be smiling more.,.,

Defensive turnovers allowed our offence to put up enough points to win this game. Cortez made some changes, using some motion and fly sweeps and fake fly sweeps and misdirection handoffs to Harris.

We also threw the football quickly with Beck in an quarterback and threw underneath, with a number of combo routes but overall our offence was still not good enough. Beck did a good job overall, considering his past reps but also threw two interceptions he shouldn't have. I still believe Jennings should be developed rather than a 34 year old quarterback.

We also got one big return from our new punt returner and some great punting from Leone but he missed two long field goals and we could have been burned by Logan but fortunately our coverage didn't allow him to do that.

A big win for a team that was floundering. More scheme work needed on offence but at least on defense, we finally figured out that you can't play a rookie undersized defensive end at tackle.

Minter and Brooks - they were the difference makers plus our defensive backs took advantage of pressure and misthrows to create the turnovers that enabled this victory.

Welcome back to the HC job Jim Popp. Hopefully Popp's loss caused Wally to throw any dum ideas of returning to coaching. He would be wise to keep his legacy of a Grey Cup win in 2011 and then walking away from the sidelines ...because Wally's previous three seasons before that Grey Cup victory were not something to celebrate

Hard to fairly assess the D given the quality of the opposition tonight. Marsh's performance was awful and must have been pretty demoralizing for the Al's players. Still, Lions did the job in a big game, so kudos to them.

Beck is a precise passer, but seems to buckle under pressure like a lot of inexperienced qbs. I don't have a lot of confidence in him, but probably as good or better an option than Lulay at this point.

Would like to see Rainey spell off Harris more. Harris is working hard, but is fighting for every yard.

Brooks looked outstanding, very noticable tonight.

ST just seems like a free for all, no system at all. Logan had blocking set up for him, not so much for our returners. Still, Rainey was finding some holes.

All in all, a mixed performance, but they got the win when it was needed.

Uh.....no.

I agree that the key to not losing this game was a word that begins with "M", but it only has five letters in it, not six.
