Maybe the RedBlacks will slot him into a DL spot.... seemed to be the only spot MW didn't put him..... ... sad to see him leave...JohnnyMusso wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2018 12:33 pmOttawa signs ex-Lions DB Loucheiz Purifoy @Lpurifoy15 #CFLFA

D-Line and O-Line addressed somewhat....now we have a SAM gap.Dusty wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2018 12:42 pmMaybe the RedBlacks will slot him into a DL spot.... seemed to be the only spot MW didn't put him..... ... sad to see him leave...JohnnyMusso wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2018 12:33 pmOttawa signs ex-Lions DB Loucheiz Purifoy @Lpurifoy15 #CFLFA

Crazy! Purifoy looked lost after excelling at SAM a year earlier and today the Lions lose him and his replacement.CardiacKid wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2018 12:39 pmPurifoy and Fenner are big losses, particularly Fenner.
Kinda funny, Purifoy excels at SAM but gives way to Fenner who also excelled and needed to bump Purifoy so he could be inserted as a starter. Now they are both gone.
Hope Campbell finds his way here or Heath.
Fenner's loss is huge on defence and special teams. He was second in the league in ST tackles. Purifoy looked lost for much of last year but he seemed to settle into his role in the secondary late in the season.
The Lions are left with Solomon Elimimian and Dyshawn Davis at linebacker. Perhaps they'll convert practice roster safety Tevin McDonald to nickelback.

I hope there is an explanation by the brass about why both Fenner and Purifoy are not returning to the team. The optics are not good.B.C.FAN wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2018 1:11 pmFenner's loss is huge on defence and special teams. He was second in the league in ST tackles. Sorry to see Fenner leave the Lions Den. Thought he had a very good year last year.
The Lions have signed another former Eskimo, DB Garry Peters.
Lions sign free agent defensive back Garry Peters

At least that breaks the cycle of Eskimos.....TheLionKing wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2018 1:42 pmLions sign two former UBC Thunderbirds

Don't be surprised when Lions introduce a third jersey for 2018 and the colours are green and gold.

Biggest take from the day? Hervey not exactly enthralled with Lions 2017 secondary.

Otha Foster is solid; he would be a great pickup at this juncture with the secondary pretty much decimated. Plus he is a former Esk which seems to be pretty much what Hervey wants.
So right now we have 2 returning starting DBs, TJ Lee and Anthony Thompson. That's it... Lots of holes to fill and a unit that will have to make a lot of introductions come training camp by the looks of it. That I am not thrilled about.....
Stanley Franks will be earning his money and then some this year.
No returning SAM linebacker either.

Apparently the Bombers offered $60,000 more than the Lions. But how are the Bombers going to accomodate both Fenner and Leggett as starters in the linebacking corps? I can't see either of them sitting on the bench with the kind of rep and salary they both have. Maybe Fenner will be moved to the secondary in Winnipeg?TheLionKing wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2018 1:32 pmSorry to see Fenner leave the Lions Den. Thought he had a very good year last year.
I trust Ed and Wally know what they're doing but to me, Fenner was our best defender last year (next to Solly). Add in the special teams component and it becomes a double whammy.B.C.FAN wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2018 1:11 pmFenner's loss is huge on defence and special teams. Still, our D-line is shaping up rather well....
