Good to see the Giants win without Blum, although the Kamloops Blazers were also without Juuso Puustinen playing for Finland and Ivan Rohac playing for Slovakia.

On Friday night the first 10,000 people into the pacific coliseum will get a mini memorial cup trophy with the Giants Logo on it

We've had a few discussions before about dance teams in hockey, but the Canucks and Giants web page don't have much information about them. However, the Chilliwack Bruins page has extensive information about their dance team. Kudos to the Chilliwack Bruins team for putting such information on their web site in just their second year of existence.

With the Tri-City Americans clinching the top spot in the WHL, the Giants will not be adding the trophy to their case.

Well, the Giants finished out their season in grand style with a 5-3 win over neuvo-rivals Chilliwack Bruins (who they will also meet in the first round of the playoffs starting this Friday).

A pre-game ceremony celebrated the 80th birthday for Giants part-owner, Mr. Hockey himself, Gordie Howe, with recorded greetings from a number of dignitaries and visits from the likes of Pat Quinn and Marcel Dion, among others. Gordie, of course, got a standing-O from the 12,000+ in attendance, as did the driver of the 1956 truck that rolled out with the huge birthday cake - one Walter Gretzky.

Three separate fights in the last few minutes of the games set the tone for the playoff series... I have my tickets for the first two games, really looking forward to it!
