Keon Hatcher released, re-signed

They better have a damn good plan B. Lawler maybe? Hatcher came back early from his injury last year and played for near league minimum before his new deal kicked in this year. No he wasn't in 2023 form but I thought he at least deserved the benefit of the doubt.

Maybe this opens a door for Rhymes to return to his old position. McInnis can take back the boundary slot position where he excelled before Hatcher returned last year.

I thought they'd keep one of Hatcher or Hollins. They are talented but, utimately, both underperformed relative to their contract. Hard to pay top dollar when you have questions about whether they will perform again at a top level. The free agent market for receivers is fairly deep. Not too concerned about this move, even though I have become a fan of Hatcher.

As you say maxlion, I'd come to really like Hatcher as player. And as a guy, an enthusiastic fellow and I think likely a leader in the locker room. But keeping him would have been a gamble. I do wish him well.

Hatcher has agreed to a restructured contract to remain a Lion.

Great news. I was hoping this would be the outcome — that he and his agent wanted to see if there was anything better on the open market. Now let's hope the injury will be fully behind him and he is extremely motivated to show he is still among the league's elite receivers.

This gives the Lions a projected starting receiver corps of Berryhill, Hatcher, Cottoy, McInnis and Eberhardt, with Lenius, Poissant and Tieide for national depth and one or more roster or practice roster spots for American rookies. Ed Lee and Jalen Sample, who both showed flashes in training camp and preseason last year, should be among the leading candidates.

I’m not sure that’s good enough. Lawler would be the game breaker we need.

True but at what cost for other needs?

Though it's a gamble (given his injury last season) I'm quite happy to see this development, and welcome Hatcher back, given the passion he brings to the team both on the field of play and in the locker room.

The Lawler bidding is getting crazy. This hasn’t even got it done.
So much for McInnis setting the new benchmark.

The two to be worst teams (Ticats & Stamps) are in the running to big-time over-pay for the over-rated Kenny Lawler ? Interesting. And Lawler is a big play, 50/50 jump ball kinda receiver but his best CFL season is barely over 1000 yards, he is not fast by any means and he has more than his share of drops = he's not even close to a CFL best receiver IMO.
Whatever though; some real dumb GMs in this league who love their certain guys who had a big game or two for another team in the past.

Who is the speedster receiver for the Lions, or do they even have one?
