Grey Cup participation medal?

I have a medallion, 6 cm round, from the 1985 Grey Cup win by B C

It is too lightweight to be bronze.

On the front it says "Olympic Stadium Montreal" around the edge and "Grey Cup 85" in the centre

The back is blank except there is a rectangle where something was supposed to be engraved.

It has loop to attach a ribbon, but the ribbon is missing

Is this some sort of participation medal that was given to players just for playing in the game?

That explanation is possible but could it have been a souvenir shop medallion?

Where did you get it, if that's not impolite to ask?

This entire team is in the BC Sport Hall of Fame but not sure what they give out there.

I thought that maybe they were given to members of the Tiger-Cats, since the Lions were obviously going to get rings.

I don't know if it was sold as a souvenir, it serves no real purpose other than being a medal you would wear around your neck, and would only appeal to players who would display with other mementos of their playing career, not to someone looking to take home a souvenir from the game

It wouldn't work as a key chain because it is too big , bulky and heavy to carry around in one's pocket with keys attached
Or slamming against the steering column if you had your car keys on it

You asked where I got it. It was part of an auction lot of Montreal items, mostly Alouettes and Canadiens. The prime offering in the lot was a 10 cm miniature silver Grey Cup that had been presented to a member of the 1970 Grey Cup champions
