B.C. Lions coach Rick Campbell says he wants to start quarterback Nathan Rourke for the team’s final four games of the regular season.
Campbell’s comments come after he pulled the Canadian from B.C.’s 33-17 loss to the Toronto Argonauts on Sept. 13.
Rourke connected on six-of-12 passing attempts, throwing for 110 yards and rushing in a touchdown in his fifth game for the Lions (7-7) since returning to the CFL last month. He was replaced by Vernon Adams Jr., who had 75 passing yards and an interception in his first appearance since suffering a knee injury on Aug. 1.
Campbell says having two good quarterbacks who can play is a good problem for the Lions to have and that both players want to do what’s best for the team.
B.C. will return to play Friday when they host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (5-9).

Lions Sticking with Rourke
The decision is in.....Leos go with Rourke.

Vernon Adams - is playing the long game here as nothing would be gained by being down and negative here.
"It is what you make it."
He's focused on the positives and no doubt is keeping in mind his future.
Speaks saying he's a respectful player's coach.
I could see him Calgary's QB next year and Starter.

Adams will be moving on in 2025 but he has reason to be positive and happy with his time in B.C. The past year and a half in B.C. he has gone from being a career backup to a legit starter, playing at an all star level.
Stamps would be a good fit and Adams and Mair would make for a strong QB room.
The Riders Trevor Harris will be 39 at the start of the 2025 season, so they might be interested in Adams as well.

7th ranked Lions in the CFL.ca Amsoil power rankings are 6.5 point favorites over the 4th ranked Tiger Cats.

You do not trade him to a Western Division rival.DanoT wrote: Mon Sep 23, 2024 5:45 pm Adams will be moving on in 2025 but he has reason to be positive and happy with his time in B.C. It may be tough to avoid dealing with Calgary vs other teams. It's maybe less of a challenge for a big ticket QB like VA but in the CFL many will just wait knowing BC can't carry VA's contract next year given what they'll be paying their designated Starter.cromartie wrote: Tue Sep 24, 2024 2:16 pmYou do not trade him to a Western Division rival.DanoT wrote: Mon Sep 23, 2024 5:45 pm Adams will be moving on in 2025 but he has reason to be positive and happy with his time in B.C. But I have no idea if Calgary is one of the teams that Farhan has said have been asking about Adams before the trade deadline which I think is Oct 1 ? this season. Farhan tweeted no BC interest this season which is understandable.
Whereever he goes I'd suggest he's in a position to demand to be their starter not waiting for someone to expire, retire or get hurt.
The Lions brain trust are in a tricky position if Nathan Rourke can't re-ignite his old self THIS season with a West Final looking dim for BC as the Bombers won 2 of 3 games this year. They made it trickier announcing he's the future before playing a down in a Lion uniform this year. Granted VA was injured.
I'm thinking VA has really matured from the QB that showed his emotions in MTL when things went south.
Secondly, I believe his leg injury wasn't as minor as the Lions first seemed to suggest and right now he gets to rest up, heal up and take less hits.
