It’s early for a game thread but it appears the Lions are looking at a few roster moves for Saturday’s rematch with the Redblacks in Victoria. According to Farhan Lalji, who attended Tuesday’s practice, Vernon Adams is expected to dress as a backup to Nathan Rourke. Rookie Ronald Kent took first-team reps at field halfback, with Adrian Greene back at safety, where he played the first half of the season.

It looks like the Redblacks will be missing several key starters for the rematch. The list includes WRs Jaelon Acklin, who left the home game in an ambulance with a head injury, and Bralon Addison, who had 99 yards from scrimmage against the Lions, and is expected to go on the 6-game injured list with a hand injury. Linebacker Jovan Santos-Knox, who had 8 tackles against the Lions, is expected to miss several games with a knee injury.

(Edited to correct Acklin’s name.)

Psst BCF. That would be Jaelon Acklin not Braelon Addison who left in the ambulance.

I confess I’ve always struggled to keep those names straight. Fixed.

not sure if its a coincidence bit our losing streak started with the return of Lee, Hatcher and Couture. Chris Schleuger has been praticing this week and we won every game with him . Maybe thats a better line up? Seems llke we messed with a good thing as we were playing well before But do agree that our defense was suspect and the 3/4 man rush has stymied our offence.

Why are the Lions at this practice not using their own facility or Tom Binnie Park next door?

It looks like Hjorth Park where they were last week.

They're practicing in Victoria tomorrow so either getting them settled in early or that and wanting team bonding or something.

It’s funny that after the Ottawa game Farhan insisted Schleuger was healthy and it was actually cap related reasons they 6-gamed him but they need to find a way to get him back on the roster. Farhan at least attends practices on a regular basis and would be in the know. Sure enough Schleuger is now turning up on the daily injury report as a full participant. I would say he is playing Saturday

Farhan also said Edwards Cooper is a week away from full practice mode, waiting for the green light from his shoulder injury suffered 10 months ago against the Bombers that cost him his FA deal with the Riders.

Schleuger and rookie guard Anu (George) Una were added to the 6-game injured list on July 31. They're eligible to start practising this week but they can't play before the Sept. 13 home game against Toronto without their full salary being counted for the games they missed.

Strong move by Ottawa to sign Rasheed Bailey as he fits the tough physical style of play the team is having success with this year. Makes them better imo.

I'll also add here that Calgary made a good move adding Chandler Worthy.

It's almost like these teams are getting serious.

Vernon Adams is listed as questionable on the Lions' final injury report after being only a limited participant all week. Tibo Debaillie (lower back) and Josh Archibald (shoulder) are also questionable. Debaillie didn't practise all week. Archibald was listed as a full participant Thursday. Ben Hladik (calf), Jordan Perryman (hamstring) and Christophe Beaulieu (ankle) have been ruled out.

Sadly you are right as usual BC FAN. Just looking at tomorrow’s depth chart and the secondary is a complete mess.

TJ at SAM for the first time and Manny at boundary half after being burned deep and taking a very costly PI last week.
Offence will need to score at least 30 points if they want to stop the free fall.

The Lions have made significant changes to their beleaguered defence for the rematch with Ottawa, along with one intriguing change on special teams, while leaving Nathan Rourke and the starting offence unchanged.

Mathieu Betts jumps straight into the starting defensive end role where he excelled last year, bumping Jonah Tavai to a depth role at defensive tackle. T.J. Lee, the best tackler in the secondary, moves to SAM from boundary halfback for the first time, swapping roles with Manny Rugamba. Adrian Greene moves from field half to safety, where he played most of this season. Rookie Ronald Kent is activated from the practice roster to start at field halfback, where he started the season. Ace Eley starts at middle linebacker in place of the injured Ben Hladik.

On special teams, strong-legged Global kicker Carl Meyer is activated for the first time and is listed as punter ahead of Stefan Flintoft. I'm not sure if he'll also handle kickoffs. The more intriguing prospect is the possibility that he could be used for long field goals, where he has about 10 yards more range than Sean Whyte.

Vernon Adams is expected to dress as third quarterback, but he was only a limited participant in practice all week. Chase Brice remains backup to Rourke. Kieran Poissant is activated as a depth receiver and special teamer.

Injured players dropped from the active roster this week are Hladik, DB Jordan Perryman and DLs Tibo Debaillie and Josh Archibald. Debaillie (lower back injury) has been put on the 6-game injured list.

3 kickers on the roster? Has that ever happened before? At least 3 that only kick?

I wonder if Flintoff is hurt, but keeping him on to hold for FGs as I don't think Meyer has that experience?

I wondered about that too, but Flintoft didn’t appear on any of the official injury reports for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
