And the running game comes alive! Maybe they are listening to us after all?
Seriously though, real nice play calling by Maksymic to use the run to get the TD and run time off the clock

Victory formation. Nice sound
That was a gutsy win in a tight game with 4 lead changes in the second half. The Lions hurt themselves earlier with untimely penalties and a series of inaccurate passes from Vernon Adams, who repeatedly threw behind open receivers in the flat. But the offence and defence came through when it counted, with a pair of late interceptions and a rare game-clinching touchdown drive led by the running of Taquan Mizzell. Good teams win close games. The Lions needed this one.

With 5:28 left in the game and Lions with the ball deep in their own end, I though what the Lions need now is a 5 minute time consuming drive, ending in a score to win the game. That is exactly what they did. Als should have been playing to stop the run at this point but Mizzell was able to get runs of 7, 8, 10, yards with some good sized holes opened up by the O line.
Lions didn't have and didn't much try for a running game for most of the contest but got it when needed the most. That and Adams doing a good job of decision making and protecting the ball were keys to winning this game, imo.

Yes, the Lions rushed for 69 yards in the fourth quarter, capped by Mizzell’s first rushing TD of the season. That was an impressive way to clinch the game.DanoT wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 2:20 amWith 5:28 left in the game and Lions with the ball deep in their own end, I though what the Lions need now is a 5 minute time consuming drive, ending in a score to win the game. I mentioned in the past about the endzone clipped corner issue at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium. This used to be the case with Commonwealth Stadium too but since they got rid or or or are able to quickly move the running track encircling the field, then that is no longer the case at Commonwealth but still is at Percival Molson as the running track has created clipped corners in the end zone. And in last night's game, four crucial plays almost became an issue in that they occurred so close to the corner in that it was almost the case in which those plays would have been nullified at Percival Molson but would have been valid at other CFL stadiums which have full endzones:
1. The Lions TD pass to Hollins.
2. The long Alouettes TD pass to Mack.
3. The Lions interception by Mauger to prevent Montreal from taking the lead.
4. The Lions interception by Lee to seal the deal.
I wonder why the CFL allows such adjustments since football stadiums should always have a standard and regulatory dimensions of 150 yards long and 65 yards wide in the CFL.
I don't think this is the case with any NFL stadium nor would the NFL allow that - especially given the fact that the end zone in the NFL is already small enough at 10 yards deep and any clipped corners would make the end zone even smaller.

This used to be more of an issue prior to 1983 when end zones were 25 yards deep. Empire Stadium had the clipped corners from 1954 to 1982 before the Lions moved to B.C. Place.Robbie wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 2:23 pmI mentioned in the past about the endzone clipped corner issue at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium. A regulation CFL end zone is 1300 square yards. I don’t think trimming a corner is that big of a deal. Both teams play on the same field. It would be a much bigger issue in the NFL considering their end zones are less than hallf the size of a CFL end zones. So it’s not a matter of “wouldn’t allow” but rather wouldn’t be practical.Robbie wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 2:23 pm

Great win especially after having to traveling East to complete the task.
In regards to Williams, why does he continue to return the ball up the middle with little success, he has the speed to beat the angle and use the sidelines like the current successful returners

In 2023, don't they have the technology to cover those parts of the track with turf to make a complete end zone?Robbie wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 2:23 pmI mentioned in the past about the endzone clipped corner issue at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium.
