Don't have any stats but you are probably right. A lot of the most expensive sports franchises are NFL ones. IIRC, at least one (or more?) are worth more than a billion buckaroos. What I like is a kinda tongue in cheek quote from Roger Goodell about how the NFL actually acts in kinda of a socialist manner in some ways. There IS NO WAY (no offence, South Pender) that the Green Bay Packers would exist without some of special setups the NFL has (TV revenue sharing etc...). IMO, (yours too, I'm betting) the NFL is better off with Green Bay in the league. It's still kinda funny to me how a league that used to have two franchises in one of its largest markets (Los Angeles) now has not had any for years. I'll bet there would be a lot of money to be made having an LA franchise back in the NFL.South Pender wrote: ...... The NFL is the most successful sports enterprise in the U.S. and is raking in billions through a truly-solid fan base. I hope they continue to shun uniform logos and, particularly, those cheesy paper or vinyl propped-up billboards we see along the sidelines at CFL stadiums (and into which players regularly fall).
It appears that the international stage (Mexico, Canada and Western Europe) are three areas the NFL truly hopes to grow its product. I spent twelve days in Japan in 2010 and it was hard to keep up on CFL and NFL goings on (this site booted me out when I tried to log in from a hotel in Tokyo ). IIRC, a Saturday evening NFL game would work out to being shown live Sunday afternoon in Tokyo.
Well, a month from now I'll be able to come home, warm up a pot of chili and settle into another season of Monday Night Football. Haven't checked out the schedule just yet but I have no doubt there will be some classics........(at least in theory)
