I've created similar polls regarding the Lions division finals:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=21863
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14416

In 2012, we all want the Lions to win again. But what kind of a win would you like to have?

In the last eight years when there's discussions about the division final wins, there's 10 times more discussion about the 2004 WDF win, with limited amount of discussion on the 2006 WDF and even the 2011 WDF. Even though it was at home and the fact that Lions were hosting the Grey Cup 7 days later as well as the turnaround season, I don't think the 2011 WDF still doesn't rank in the same category as the 2004 and especially the 1994 WDF. So it looks like it has to be a very narrow win for the game to be extremely memorable.

Big Time, I'm sure you've made your decision already given your previous posts.

I'll hate myself for saying this, but I voted for a close one. I enjoy football and its rare that I would enjoy a blowout just for the sake of a blowout. Obviously the nerves during a close game take a beating but thats probably why they are memorable too.

I wonder sometimes if the blowout might set a team up for complacency. That wasn't going to be the case in last years version of the Lions. And enough of them are still around, I doubt it would this year. But, would you want to see a WDF blowout if it lead to a loss a week later? Not me.....

Of course, I won't be angry or majorly dissappointed with a Lions blowout win.

That's ok, we all hate you

No seriously, I can totally appreciate what you are saying. Those close wins are sometimes character builders that can prepare a team for the big game. Don't think it matters so much for this squad however. They haven't steam rolled a lot of games this year and it seems to be a wise enough group to realize that no game is gimme in this league. So for my own nerves and blood pressure, I took the blow out option. I will keep the nerves for the Grey Cup.
Tell me how long must a fan be strong? Ans. Always.

Um, isn't this poll kind of... I don't know, presumptuous?

What KIND of a win would you rather have? Really? Like, the win is a given, we just have to decide by how much?

This is the sort of thing that, spotted on other teams' boards, would get mocked to high heaven, especially given the sheer volume of WF upsets we've seen in the last 20 years or so. I'd just as soon see this whole thread scrapped.
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

Maybe I should revise the poll and subject title to read, sort of like a statistics question....

What kind of a Lions win would you prefer given the Lions win the WDF?

I thought about adding a poll selection of: The Lions will lose the game

But I'm sure that selection will be unpopular and we'd all rather not to think that way.

That's even worse, now you're actually SAYING the win is a given. Maybe just along the lines of what OUTCOME are you predicting for WF: huge win, moderate win, narrow win, narrow loss, moderate loss, huge loss. Of course a lot of things have to happen between now and then, like knowing the injury situations, who we'll face, how team momentum will vary between us and them, etc., before the prediction can be an informed one, but whatever.

Again don't care as long as we have an extra point at the end.

I will always take a blowout. Why waste anymore energy then they need to. A blow out usually means a rest for certain players. Although, a win is a win so I'll take it any way we get it.

What a silly question. Is there ever a game in any sport that you don't want your team you are pulling for to dominate? I'd take a blow out 10 times out of 10 given the option!!!
Still in Riderville, hating the Riders!
