Whoever wins the Saskatchewan-Edmonton game will be tied for first in the west with BC. Do you care which team that is?
I think I'd like to see the Schmoes win, only because I think Edmonton has a lot of loses ahead. Plus Rider Nation does not have a lot of patience for Durant, so it would be nice to see the home town fans turn on him even before the Lions come to town.

Re: Poll: Riders or Schmoes?
From top to bottom I dislike the Edmonton organization and I'm pretty ambivalent about the Riders. I have a lot more sympathy for the Rider faithful than Edmonton fans. Rider Nation are pretty full of themselves now, but they've suffered through a lot of bad teams over the years and I personally would not be sad to see Edmonton miss the playoffs for a few years in a row.
Also, I've been enjoying the drama and the fallout from the Ray-Jyles trade and I would like to see a poor showing from Jyles to restoke those fires of rage in Edmonton.

After that farce of a game tonight, can anyone say that either team or the fans won?
Tell me how long must a fan be strong? Ans. Always.

Re: Poll: Riders or Schmoes?
I've disliked the Eskimos since the Hugh Campbell days when they bought a few titles with an unlimited budget.
I thought Maciocia and LeLacheur drove that organization to the bottom.
And I kind of think Tillman has lost his football compass since his legal troubles (Some might say he had lost his moral compass earlier). Personally I think the Ray Trade was almost an act of desperation (trying to quickly establish himself), with a misjudgment on his part of the importance of a top level QB in the CFL. IMO Kerry Joseph had Kent Austin pulling his strings and pushing his buttons to the Riders' title in 2007. Tillman gave up little in trading Joseph after that. He also had a Riders team chock full of good talent acquired by Roy Shivers. It seems he thought he could trade Ricky Ray the same way he traded Kerry Joseph, with seemingly no harm to the team. The trade of Ricky Ray was kind of delusional, it seems to me. Even just the wrath of the fans as they are now would make the trade a non starter IMO (Check out esksfans to see the level of the wrath). He traded one of the most beloved (although not by everyone) athletes in Edmonton's history (And even if many fans were left cold by Ricky Ray, I believe they knew the level of offence he brought to the team).
I would have said keep Ricky Ray. Ask him to take another pay cut. Develop a guy behind him. Spot the new guy in games. Ease Ricky out. Just IMO ...
I've never had any particular antipathy towards the little Green Riders. They have suffered much.
So I would have to say Go Riders, Down with the Eskimos.
And so it came to pass ...

This sets up a schedule-maker's dream matchup of the league's only two unbeaten teams and perennial best ratings draws. Who is the genius who scheduled the game at 12 noon PT on a Saturday when most people are out in their gardens, shopping, at the beach or wherever people go on sunny summer weekend afternoons?

You forget, they don't have any of those things in Ssk. As for myself, I'll be rushing back from the blood donor clinic to make kickoff — which maybe will help to ease my BP should the Lions falter.B.C.FAN wrote:This sets up a schedule-maker's dream matchup of the league's only two unbeaten teams and perennial best ratings draws. Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

The answer is meteor. I root for a meteor.
Re: Poll: Riders or Schmoes?
The eskies uniforms really conflict with the riders. The Eskies and Bombers road jerseys should have been vetoed by the league
Re: Poll: Riders or Schmoes?
Terrible game...after seeing some of this year's offerings the fans should be given their money back...both quarterbacks sucked. Edmonton especially needs a QB...what was Tillman thinking? Jyles passing is going to invite lots of interceptions...and the snaps back from center are just too slow...Mike Reilly could step in there and star immediately...the league should allow the Lions to carry an extra qb and let Buono develop them for a year and allow the weakest teams to acquire them by picking them off our practice roster...that way all treams could be competitive...the Edmonton defence can only win so many games for them without an offence.
