Wally pulled of a sharp trade indeed.

Wally B pulled off a solid trade beginning in 2010 with:

2011 #2 pick for semi retired 26yr old Jesse Newman

Which was then traded BACK to us so the Stamps could swap draft position with us:

We moved from

#3 overall to #6
#34 overall to #37
Reacquired the #2 pick we sent to Calgary for Jesse Newman.

The #6 pick became:

#6 overall Marco Ianuzzi, whom was supposed to go to us at #3 anyway
#11 pick went for Hugh O'Neil, allowing Sean Whyte to be traded for a #1 pick
#37 pick went for Yannick Sage

And they added Jesse Newman, that can easily be 4 starters moving forwards.

Good job Wally B, now if Hodgson pans out as the athletic De you hoped to get. :roar:

I agree, ed.

Good maneuvering by Wally.

Newman was a great pickup.

Calgary did alright too. Got Parker. But they gave up the good second round spot to us, when they could have had a top receiver in round 1 anyway.

Well the way I see it:

Iannuzzi could be playing in 1 yrs, maybe this yr if he shows he can handle Kick Returns
O'Neil is McCallums' heir apparent
"If" Sage beats out Valli, he becomes Reid's understudy
Newman will start a G (imho)
Carter is wildcard, really fast but who knows if he signs with us? If he does he can easily be our cover corner.

Not too bad really, and even it those players do not win starting jobs they will push some guys in training camp.

Most of this stuff is future, especially in Wally's scheme of things.

Iannuzzi will not likely see the field unless he is gangbusters in TC and preseason.

O'Neill should get playing time this year.

Sage is long term at best, even though he is a beast. Ya gotta check out his recruiting YouTube. So many pancake blocks. IMO he looks very promising. He plays right tackle and some right guard. I could see him sticking and eventually moving ahead of anyone at right tackle, except McGrath, who has calmness and skill.

Carter might not make it through TC. If he shows well, he might be looked at long term replacement for Sanchez.

Re: Wally pulled of a sharp trade indeed.

You know how things go with Wally WCJ, a rookie will have a tough time seeing the field.

I suspect Carter is a futures pick, like S Gore in 2010.

Still not bad for a #2nd rd draft pick that was handed back to Wally.

Well WCJ, "Iknow" this is sort of right up "our" alley but not thread worthy:

Yonus Davis's replacement maybe?

Alfonso Hoggard..5'2 150 pds..KR from a HBCU...
